CAGED FLOATING SEAL ASSEMBLY
20180153581 · 2018-06-07 ·

A seal assembly establishes sealing engagement with a plurality of differently dimensioned instruments passing through a trocar. The seal assembly is a caged seal assembly movably disposed within the trocar and includes at least two seal segments disposable into and out of a sealing orientation relative to the instrument. A cage structure of the seal assembly includes at least two cage segments each connected to a seal segment, a biasing assembly connected to the cage structure and disposed and structured to normally bias the seal segments into sealing orientation.

STEERABLE GUIDING SHEATH WITH RING ELECTRODES AND RELATED METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION

A guiding sheath has a braided layer for improved deflection characteristics and ring electrodes for electrical sensing, mapping and visualization, wherein lead wires for the ring electrodes are passed through lumened tubing position under the braided layer in a proximal portion of the guiding sheath shaft and above the braided layer in a distal portion of the guiding sheath shaft. Moreover, the hemostatic valve includes an improved friction ring with air vents to reduce the risk of air being introduced into the valve.

Selective fluid barrier valve device and method of treatment

Selective fluid barrier valve devices and methods of treatment are described herein. An embodiment of a selective fluid barrier valve device comprises a housing, an actuator, a sleeve, a wire member, and a connector. The sleeve defines a passageway that extends through the sleeve. The actuator is moveable between a first position and a second position. When the actuator is in the first position, the sleeve is in a first configuration such that fluid can pass through the passageway defined by the sleeve. When the actuator is in a second position, the sleeve is in a second configuration such that fluid is prevented from passing through the passageway defined by the sleeve.

TROUGH SEAL
20180142787 · 2018-05-24 ·

A seal to permit the passage of a device through the seal. The seal includes an elastic component having a proximal end, a distal end, and an elongated trough adjacent the distal end. The elastic component has a slit that intersects the elongated trough.

INTRODUCER SHEATH SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Introducer sheath systems including a pressure regulator operably coupled to a hemostatic valve, wherein the pressure regulator includes a chamber filled with a gas that is fluidly isolated from the hemostatic valve. The introducer sheath systems may include a tubular sheath, a hub assembly, and a dilator disposed therein connected to a proximal end of the sheath; the hub assembly including a housing and a hemostatic valve disposed therein; a pressure regulator connected to the hub and in fluid communication with the hemostatic valve; and a sealed chamber defined by the pressure regulator, the chamber having an interior, wherein the interior of the chamber is filled with a gas that is fluidly isolated from the hemostatic valve.

AUTOMATIC MEDICAL VALVE WITH A VARIABLE DIAMETER SEAL
20180126144 · 2018-05-10 ·

A medical valve assembly includes a tube extending between proximal and distal tube ends. A plunger plate extends radially from the distal tube end, and a valve housing surrounds the tube and extends between proximal and distal valve housing ends. The valve housing includes a flange extending radially inwardly from the distal valve housing end and disposed in spaced relationship with the plunger plate to define a distance dimension D extending therebetween. An elastomeric seal is compressed between the plunger plate and the flange to establish a closed condition of the medical valve assembly. The elastomeric seal axially moves one of the valve housing and the tube relative to the other when a medical device is inserted into the medical valve assembly to automatically increase the distance dimension and establish an open and sealed condition of the medical valve assembly with the inserted medical valve.

Preloaded stylet valve compatibility

Preloaded catheters are manufactured with a stylet, guidewire, or similar medical device disposed within the catheter, extending through a valve of the connector at a proximal end. During storage and transport, the stylet can remain in place for a prolonged period of time, which can cause stretching, indentations, and damage to the valve faces. These indentations can cause the valve leak, resulting in failure of the device as a whole. Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to devices and methods for preventing contact between the medical device and the valve faces, mitigating damage thereto.

INTRODUCER SHEATH WITH DUAL ARM HUB HAVING INBUILT TIGHTENING PORT

An introducer sheath including a valve hub and an elongate shaft extending from the valve hub. The valve hub defines a main port and a side port. The main port includes a hub body, a compressible seal disposed within the hub body, a pusher at least partially positioned within the hub body and slidably movable relative thereto, and a lock nut surrounding the pusher. The lock nut is threadably engaged with the hub body such that rotation of the lock nut moves the pusher axially toward and/or away from the compressible seal.

Sheath device for inserting a catheter

A sheath device for inserting a catheter into a patient's body is described. The device has a first sheath with a proximal end and a distal end. When the device is used as intended, the distal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement in the patient's body and the proximal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement outside the patient's body. The first sheath comprises a tubular section and a sheath housing, which is disposed at the proximal end of the section and has a receiving channel for a strand-shaped body. The device solves the problem of reliably fixing a second sheath or a catheter with respect to the first sheath by providing a clamping element on the receiving channel for fixing a strand-shaped body in the receiving channel by way of clamping.
