Introducer assembly with cap and method of using same
An introducer sheath assembly (10) having a sheath tube (12), a hub (16), a valve (30) and a valve-retaining cap (50) on the proximal end of the hub. The cap (50) is so secured to the hub (16) as to have a closed, locked position and also an open position permitting access to the interior of the hub and the valve (30) while the cap (50) remains secured to the hub (16).
Surgical access assembly and method of using same
A surgical access assembly is disclosed. The surgical access assembly comprises an outer sheath and an obturator. The outer sheath is defined by an open distal end and an open proximal end and includes a hollow body portion therebetween. The obturator is defined by a distal end and a proximal end and the distal end further comprises a tapered distal tip member that terminates in a closed radiused distal tip. The obturator is configured to be received within the outer sheath such that the tapered distal tip member protrudes from the open distal end of the outer sheath when the obturator is in an introducing configuration.
RADIAL SEALING ASSEMBLY, END SEALING PIECE AND TROCAR
A radial sealing assembly comprises an upper pressing plate, a protection sheet, a positioning plate, a funnel-shaped sealing ring, a lower pressing plate and a corrugated sealing ring. The upper pressing plate is provided with at least two convex connecting hooks for connection with the positioning plate; the lower pressing plate is provided with at least two connecting slots for connection with the positioning plate; the positioning plate is provided with at least two connecting slots for connection with the upper pressing plate and at least two convex connecting hooks for connection with the lower pressing plate; and both the upper pressing plate and the lower pressing plate are connected to the positioning plate by adopting concave-convex engagement structures.
Surgical access system with navigation element and method of using same
A surgical access assembly and method of use is disclosed. The surgical access assembly comprises an outer sheath and an obturator. The outer sheath and obturator are configured to be delivered to an area of interest within the brain. Either the outer sheath or the obturator may be configured to operate with a navigational system to track the location of either device within the brain.
Introducer with partially annealed reinforcement element and related systems and methods
The present disclosure illustrates an introducer sheath with a partially annealed metal frame. The introducer sheaths described herein include a hub coupled to a shaft. The shaft comprises a braided wire frame with (i) an annealed distal portion that prevents the braided wire frame from unraveling at a distal end, and (ii) a second portion that is unannealed; a jacket encompassing the braided wire frame; and a liner forming an inner wall.
HEMOSTASIS VALVE
A hemostasis valve for use with catheters in intravascular procedures. The hemostasis valve comprising a sealable fluid channel that bifurcates from a single distal lumen to two proximal lumens. An upper proximal lumen may include a funnel shaped opening to improve aspiration potential. Rotating locking mechanisms are attachable at the ends of the hemostasis valve to interlock coaxial devices or to form seals around coaxial devices. Injection molding may be used to manufacture a hemostasis valve and its components. A mold and core pins may impart external and internal shapes to a molten polymer. Once the polymer has cooled, the molded component is separated from any pins or molds and attached to other molded components to form an assembled hemostasis valve.
SURGICAL ACCESS ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USING SAME
An illuminating ring assembly is disclosed. The illuminating ring configured to be used with a surgical access element. The illuminating ring assembly comprises a housing defined by a cover and a wall member extending from the cover, wherein the cover and wall member cooperate to define a cavity therein, a light element configured to be disposed with the cavity, and an attachment mechanism configured to selectively attach the housing to a surgical access element. Wherein the cover and the light element both include an opening therethrough.
Low friction trocar valve
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a low friction trocar valve comprising a set of sheets arranged circularly and defining an entry point for the insertion of an instrument. In certain aspects, each sheet of the trocar valve's set of sheets comprises areas that overlap with two adjacent sheets. The trocar valve is formed in an opening of a valve housing coupled to or formed as part of a trocar cannula to provide a sealing mechanism for preventing the escape of pressurized fluids from the trocar cannula.
Integrated Hemostasis Bypass Valve
According to one aspect of the disclosure, a delivery device may include a handle, a catheter sheath extending distally from the handle, and a hemostasis valve positioned within the handle. The hemostasis valve may be located proximal to the catheter sheath and distal to a proximal end of the handle. The delivery device may also include a hemostasis bypass assembly coupled to the handle. The hemostasis bypass assembly may include a bypass tube coupled to an actuator. The actuator may be configured to be transitioned between a first condition in which a distal end of the bypass tube is positioned proximal to the hemostasis valve and the hemostasis valve is closed, and a second condition in which the distal end of the bypass tube traverses the hemostasis valve and the hemostasis valve is opened.
SINGLE CAVITY HEMOSTASIS VALVE HUB FOR INTRODUCER SHEATHS
A hemostasis valve hub for use with an introducer sheath includes a base having a securing mechanism for securing the hemostasis valve hub to the introducer sheath, an outer shell securable to the base and defining an interior volume, a shutter helix section disposed within the interior volume and including a plurality of fins arranged in a helical fashion, a brush section disposed within the interior volume adjacent the disk shutter section, the brush section including a plurality of brushes arranged in a helical fashion, and a seal positioned within the base and adjacent the brush section, the seal having a partial cross slit arrangement.
