A tensioning mechanism is coupled to the shell and to the elongate member, the tensioning mechanism can be moveable between a first configuration wherein the tensioning mechanism is collapsed and the central lumen is sealed and a second configuration wherein the central lumen is open.

Asymmetric shaft seal

A trocar assembly includes a trocar that includes a trocar housing and a cannula that extends distally from the trocar housing, and an integral seal system positioned within a central passageway extending axially through the trocar and engageable against a surgical tool shaft extended therethrough. The integral seal system includes an asymmetric seal and a duckbill seal arranged distal to the asymmetric seal, and the asymmetric seal defines a diaphragm that complements insertion and extraction drag forces generated by the duckbill seal against the surgical tool shaft such that total insertion and extraction drag forces generated by the integral seal system are equalized.

A cannula for use in an access assembly includes an instrument valve housing including first and second housing sections and defining a cavity and a valve assembly disposed within the cavity of the instrument valve housing. The valve assembly includes a seal assembly including an outer flange and a septum seal extending across the outer flange, a guard assembly disposed within the outer flange of the seal assembly, and a centering mechanism. The guard assembly includes a plurality of guard members. Each guard member of the plurality of guard members includes a ring portion and a flap portion. The flap portions of the guard members of the guard assembly are configured to engage and stretch the septum seal during reception of a surgical instrument through the valve assembly.

MULTI-USE BLOOD CONTROL SAFETY CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A catheter assembly comprises a catheter (18), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed within the catheter (18), a catheter hub (14) connected to the catheter (18) having the needle (12) passing therethrough, the catheter hub (14) including a valve (38) that selectively permits or blocks a flow of fluid through the catheter (18), a valve actuator (54) that moves between a first position and a second position, and a return member (56) that returns the valve actuator (54) from the second position to the first position, and a needle protection member (176) that encloses the sharp distal tip of the needle (12).

Protective Bubble

A catheter assembly including a flexible catheter, a needle having a sharp distal tip, the needle disposed in the flexible catheter and moving from a first position that exposes the needle to a second position, an outer member that is configured to engage and disengage a catheter hub, an inner member disposed in the outer member, and a needle shield for shielding at least a distal end of the needle when the needle is in the second position and the needle being disposed through the needle shield in the first position.

VACUUM ASSISTED SKIN PENETRATING APPLIANCE WITH EXTERNAL INTERFACE

An external protective interface is provided for intravenous infusion lines, drive lines, vacuum lines, and monitoring lines for percutaneous access. The interface acts as an airtight seal in concert with a vacuum line to promote accelerated tissue healing to reduce and prevent infection at insertion sites for infusion lines, drive lines, and medical devices. The interface provides additional mechanical stability to an implanted tube or PAD or so as to speed healing around a semi-permanent implanted tube or PAD, as well as connection points for vacuum lines and at least one drive line for the insertion of medical devices. The dense fibroblast ingrowth encouraged by the interface acts to strengthen barriers to infection at the insertion site.

Needle capture safety interlock for catheter

Catheter assembly (10) comprises catheter (22), needle (12) having sharp distal tip disposed in catheter (22), catheter hub (14) housing catheter (22) and needle (12), catheter hub (14) having collar (34) including notch (36), needle shield (20) connected to catheter hub (14) when needle (12) is in first position, and clip (40) disposed in needle shield (20) that cooperates with needle (12), wherein clip (40) engages catheter hub (14) in first position of needle (12), and clip (40) disengages catheter hub (14) via notch (36) when needle (12) is retracted to second position to enclose at least portion of needle (12). Clip (40) is mounted in outer housing (38) of needle shield (20) via spade (66) having outer wall (70) exposed to outside of needle shield (20), in order to reduce overall width of needle shield (20).

Hemostatic valve system

A hemostatic valve assembly is disclosed. The assembly comprises a housing having a sidewall that tapers radially inwardly towards the housing distal end. A valve member having an open proximal end and a tapered distal end with an orifice formed therein is disposed within the housing chamber. The valve member is deformable between a closed configuration in which the orifice is substantially closed and an open configuration in which the orifice is open. A biasing member disposed proximal to the valve member is moveable between a longitudinally compressed condition and a longitudinally expanded condition. When in an expanded condition, the biasing member pushes the valve member longitudinally and against the tapered sidewall of the housing. The tapered sidewall of the housing urges the distal end of the valve member radially inwardly, thus urging the orifice to the substantially closed configuration.
