Medical device with hemostatic valve

In various examples, a hub for a medical device includes a hub housing including a passage from a proximal end of the hub housing to a distal end of the hub housing. A valve is disposed within the hub. The valve is configured to allow passage of an insertable device through the valve while inhibiting leakage of fluid from the valve. A cap is engaged to the hub housing. The cap includes an opening therethrough sized and shaped to allow passage of the insertable device through the opening. The opening allows access to the passage of the hub housing. An angled sidewall is disposed within the hub. The angled sidewall is configured to retain and deform the valve into a curved shape.

Needle devices having a component that provides the function of fixing a valve in a standard diameter sized catheter hub, the valve and/or the component provide or provides a proximally directed axial force for returning the valve opener from a distal position within the catheter hub to a proximal position within the catheter hub when a male Luer is disconnected from the catheter hub. Various components can be located inside a single hub body catheter hub that can restrict fluid flow, allow actuation to permit fluid flow, prevent needlestick injuries, and combinations thereof.

Catheter assemblies are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to catheter assemblies having a tip protector, a valve, a valve opener, and optionally a needle wiper. The valve opener is disposed inside a catheter hub and is configured to be pushed by an IV set luer connector to open a valve following successful catheterization to pass fluids or other solutions through the catheter. A tip protector is incorporated to block the needle tip and prevent the same from accidental needle stick. A wiper is optionally included to wipe blood deposits from the needle when the same is retracted from the catheter.

A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (20), a needle (22) having a sharp distal tip and disposed within the catheter (20), a catheter hub (30) connected to the catheter (20) having the needle (22) passing therethrough, and a housing (70) that encloses the sharp distal tip of the needle (22). An external surface of the catheter hub (30) and an internal surface of the housing (70) each include at least one of a channel member (34) and a raised portion (72) that interfit to restrict motion between the catheter hub (30) and the housing (70).

BLOOD CONTROL SEPTUM AND RELATED SYSTEMS

A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending therethrough. The catheter assembly may also include a septum slidably disposed within the lumen. The septum may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a barrier disposed between the distal end of the septum and the proximal end of the septum. The barrier may divide an interior of the septum into a distal cavity and a proximal cavity. A distal face of the barrier may include a protrusion. The barrier may include a slit extending through the protrusion for selectively opening fluid communication between the distal cavity and the proximal cavity.

Ported catheter adapter having combined port and blood control valve with venting

A ported catheter adapter having a combined blood control valve and port valve, wherein the combined valve comprises one or more vents that permit the passage of air and prevent the passage of fluids. The one or more vents are located on the outer surface of the valve so as to avoid being overlapped with the pathway of the side port. As such, fluid communication between the side port and the vents is prevented. Various venting configurations are provided. The invention further includes a valve actuator that is advanced through a slit in the membrane of the valve to provide a pathway for fluid to bypass the valve.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FACILITATING INSTRUMENT DELIVERY THROUGH A PERIPHERAL INTRAVENOUS CATHETER

A system for facilitating instrument delivery through a peripheral intravenous catheter may include a catheter adapter having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending there through. The catheter adapter may include a side port. The system may include an extension tube extending from the side port. The system may include a blood control valve disposed in the lumen of the catheter adapter. The system may include a peripheral intravenous catheter extending distally from the catheter adapter.

Catheter devices with valves and related methods

Needle assemblies and related methods in which a valve opener is used to push into a valve to open one or more slits on the valve to open the valve. The needle assemblies each includes a needle hub with a needle, a catheter tube with a catheter hub and the valve and valve opener positioned in the interior cavity of the catheter hub. The valve can have a valve skirt and a nose section of the valve opener can locate therein. One or more reliefs can be provided with the valve opener so that an elbow or diagonal section on a needle guard can project from a holding space within the valve opener through the relief.

Hemostatic connector

A hemostatic connector includes an insertion hole, a hemostatic member, a connector main body part, and a coupling pipe part. The insertion hole is configured such that an introduction member is inserted through the insertion hole. The hemostatic member is configured to block a gap between a peripheral surface of the insertion hole and the introduction member. The hemostatic member is provided in the connector main body part. The coupling pipe part is configured to be coupled to a hub of a sheath introducer. The coupling pipe part is configured to be coupled to the hub in a state in which the coupling pipe part penetrates a hemostatic valve provided in an internal hole of the hub when the coupling pipe part is inserted into the internal hole. The connector main body part and the coupling pipe part are configured to be inseparable.
