Anti-microbial IV tubing protection system
Embodiments described herein relate to encasements for protection of central lines, arterial lines, and/or intravenous (IV) lines from contaminants, and methods of making and using the same. In some embodiments, an encasement device can include a flexible sleeve that fits over a central line and protects the central line from contaminants. The flexible sleeve has a first open end and a second open end. A first closing element secures the first open end to a medical dressing and a second closing element secures the second open end in a closed position at a location distal to the first closing element. In some embodiments, the central line can include an intravenous (IV) catheter, a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and/or a hemodialysis line. In some embodiments, the device can include a flap coupled to the flexible sleeve.
ANTIMICROBIAL CAPS FOR MEDICAL CONNECTORS
The present invention relates to a cap for a medical connector. More specifically, the present invention related to an antimicrobial cap for placement over a connector, wherein various features of the antimicrobial cap maintain the connector in an antiseptic state.
METHOD OF COATING A TRANSDERMAL CATHETER WITH AN ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT
Systems, methods, and articles for providing an antimicrobial composition to the proximal elements of a trans-dermal catheter and into the lumen of the transdermal catheter are disclosed. In an embodiment, an antimicrobial composition on surface a cap element transfers antimicrobial to the proximal end of the transdermal catheter. The system comprises an elongate member configured for insertion into a lumen of a catheter, the elongate member containing an antimicrobial.
Medical connector contamination prevention systems
A system relating to improved medical-connector contamination prevention. More particularly, this invention relates to a reduced-touch contamination system for small-bore fluid connectors, including male and female Luer-type connectors.
NON-REMOVABLE CONNECTION SYSTEM
Non-removable connection system (100) for a medical apparatus comprising a first connector (1) comprising a fluid coupling portion (2), a second connector (11) comprising a respective fluid coupling portion (12) connectable to the fluid coupling portion (2) of the first connector (1), wherein the second connector (11) comprises a hooking portion (13) and at least one locking projection (14). The non-removable connection system (100) also comprises a collar (20) coupled to the first connector (1) and comprising a respective hooking portion (23) engageable to the hooking portion (13) of the second connector (11) through an engagement rotation (ER), wherein in a engaged configuration the hooking portions (23, 13) prevent axial removal of the collar (20) from the second connector (11). The collar (20) further comprises respective locking projections (24) engageable to the locking projections (14) of the second connector (11) through the engagement rotation; in a coupled configuration the locking projections (24, 14) prevent a disengagement rotation of the collar (20) with respect to the second connector (11).
UNIVERSAL CONNECTOR OR CAP FOR MALE AND FEMALE THREADED FITTINGS
A cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a first cavity, and a removable or integrally formed protrusion. The protrusion includes an inner thread on an inner surface, the inner thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a female needleless connector. The inner surface of the protrusion defines a second cavity. The protrusion includes an outer thread on an outer surface, the outer thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a male needleless connector. The second cavity configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap may also include a peel seal and/or septum to prevent the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the second cavity. An exterior sidewall surface of the housing may include a plurality of grip members.
CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY FOR USE IN MEDICAL FLUID LINES
A connector assembly for connection and disconnection between ports of fluid lines for administering fluids into a human body from a route other than the oral route. The connector assembly includes a catheter dock, a cap removal dock, a fluid line dock, and a new cap dock. The catheter dock can receive an inlet port of a catheter secured by a catheter cap. The cap removal dock can aseptically remove the catheter cap from the inlet port. The catheter dock can be switched consecutively between the cap removal dock, the fluid line dock, and the new cap dock. Upon removal of the catheter cap, the catheter dock can be switched to the fluid line dock, and the fluid can flow from the fluid line to the catheter. Upon administering the liquid, the catheter dock can be switched from the fluid line dock to the new cap dock, wherein a new catheter cap is secured into the inlet port under aseptic conditions.
Single use caps and covers for vascular access devices, and kits and methods for using the same
This invention concerns improved single use caps or covers for vascular access devices such as needlefree connectors that are used, for example, in intravenous administration sets and extension sets. Removal of a single use cap or cover according to the invention from a vascular access device destroys the cap such that the cap cannot be reused. Said single use caps or covers will help ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols in healthcare settings, which will assist in reducing incidences of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), particularly catheter-related blood stream infections. Assemblies and kits including said caps or covers, for example, IV administration and extension sets that include one or more needlefree connectors, as well as methods for using said caps or covers, are also described.
Universal single-use cap for male and female connectors
A device for connection to a medical connector, the device includes an outer cap, an inner cap and a peelable seal. The outer cap configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The outer cap including one or more threads adapted to engage with a female luer connector. The inner cap including one or more thread-tabs adapted to engage a male luer connector. The peelable seal prevents the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the chamber.
Disinfecting cap with top opening
A device for disinfecting a portion of a medical implement includes two disinfecting chambers, wherein each disinfecting chamber includes a wall forming a medial and bottom openings, which are in communication with each other, wherein one disinfecting chamber is opposed to the other. Each disinfecting chamber houses a disinfecting member that is exposed through the medial opening to come into communication with a medical implement when the disinfecting chambers are closed. The device further includes a resilient member connected to the two disinfecting chambers, which biases the disinfecting chambers together to a closed position and permits displacement of the disinfecting chambers to an open position, such that the medial opening of one disinfecting chamber communicates with the medial opening of the other disinfecting chamber and the bottom opening of one chamber communicates with the bottom opening of the other chamber when in the closed position.
