DISINFECTING CAP FOR OPEN FEMALE LUER DEVICES
Disclosed is a cap configured for removable attachment a medical device. The cap has a body with an opening, a bottom, and a chamber defined between the opening and the bottom. The cap has a male post in the chamber and projecting from the bottom towards the opening of the body. The cap has a wall of the chamber comprising a thread originating proximate the opening and extending into the chamber, wherein the male post is spaced from the wall and at least a portion of the thread having a height that increases as a function of increasing distance from the opening. The movable piston positioned about the male post. Further, within the cap is a liquid disinfectant in the chamber between the bottom of the body and the movable piston.
UNIVERSAL CONNECTOR OR CAP FOR MALE AND FEMALE THREADED FITTINGS
A cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a first cavity, and a removable or integrally formed protrusion. The protrusion includes an inner thread on an inner surface, the inner thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a female needleless connector. The inner surface of the protrusion defines a second cavity. The protrusion includes an outer thread on an outer surface, the outer thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a male needleless connector. The second cavity configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap may also include a peel seal and/or septum to prevent the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the second cavity. An exterior sidewall surface of the housing may include a plurality of grip members.
Variable Rate Dispenser With Aseptic Spike Connector Assembly
A dispenser includes a container with an endwall and a cap covering the endwall. The cap has an aperture and a first film covering the aperture. A hood over the cap has a barrel defining a bore which is coaxially aligned with the aperture, a second film sealing the bore, and a gasket compressed behind the second film. A spike is carried for movement in the barrel between retracted and advanced positions. The dispenser has first and second conditions. In the first condition, the first and second films are against each other and seal the aperture and barrel, and in the second condition, the first and second films are away, unsealing the aperture and the barrel. When the dispenser is in the second condition and the spike moves from the retracted position to the advanced position, the spike pierces the endwall.
Antimicrobial composition including a residual barrier film
This disclosure describes example antimicrobial compositions that may be used in combination with IV port cleansing caps, protective caps, or nasal decolonizer devices. According to another implementations, the disclosure describes that the antimicrobial composition may provide an indication that it has come into contact with a contaminant by bubbling or foam on a surface that is being cleaned. According to another implementation, the disclosure describes that the antimicrobial composition may leave a residual film or barrier to inhibit the recontamination of a surface that has been cleaned.
CONNECTOR FOR CONNECTING A FIRST MEDICAL LINE TO A SECOND MEDICAL LINE
A connector for connecting a first medical line to a second medical line is disclosed. This connector comprises an insertion shaft (12) having a flow channel that is intended to be brought into fluid communication with a lumen of a first medical line (3); a collar (10) that circumferentially extends around the insertion shaft (12), wherein the collar (10) comprises a first thread (100) on an inner side that faces the insertion shaft (12); and an elastic member (14) that is placed between the insertion shaft (12) and the collar (10), wherein the elastic member (14) comprises an abutment portion (141) abutting a surface of the insertion shaft (12) and being displaceable relative to the surface of the insertion shaft (12). The collar (10) is radially movable around the insertion shaft (12) and the elastic member (14) comprises a thread portion (142) having a second thread that engages the first thread (100) of the collar (10) such that a rotational movement of the collar (10) around the insertion shaft (12) results in a lateral displacement of the elastic member (14) along the surface of the insertion shaft (12). Furthermore, a method for operating such a connector is disclosed. Additionally, a connector assembly comprising such a connector is disclosed.
Connector for Aseptic Connection, and Method for Connecting and Disconnecting Such Connectors
The present invention relates to a connector for substantially aseptic connection, said connector comprising a connector member (1) having a connection end (13) and a coupling end (12), wherein the coupling end (12) comprises a coupling element (15) for engaging a similar coupling element (15) on a similar connector (100) to form a first seal (B), and a cover (2) arranged to enclose the coupling end (12) for providing an aseptic seal that separates the coupling end (12) from a surrounding, the cover (2) comprising at least two cover portions (21A, 22A), each cover portion (21A, 22A) being configured to be successively-positioned on or adjacent the coupling end (12) of the connector member (1), wherein each cover portion (21A, 22A) comprises a seal member (21, 22) for engaging a similar seal member on a similar connector thereby to form a second seal (A) when so positioned on or adjacent the coupling end (12) of the connector member (1). The invention also relates to a method for connecting and disconnecting two such connectors.
Disinfecting cap for valved connectors and method of use
Devices used to disinfect and maintain sterility of a medical valve connector are disclosed. The devices may comprise an insert that is configured to dispense disinfecting solution when the device is coupled to the medical valve connector. Insert grooves are configured to collapse sequentially as the insert is compressed by the medical valve connector.
Port and surface cleaning devices and techniques
This disclosure describes example antimicrobial compositions that may be used in combination with IV port cleansing caps, protective caps, or both. According to another implementations, the disclosure describes various cap devices that may be used in combination with the antimicrobial composition to cleanse, sanitized, and/or disinfected a surface.
Disinfection Scrub For Male And Female Luer Connectors
A disinfection device is disclosed having a container, a scrub element, a disinfectant or antimicrobial agent, and a removable seal. The scrub element may be disposed on a base scrub.
