Pre-chamber spark plug with orientated openings
A prechamber spark plug for an internal combustion engine with the following features: a body with an external thread at its front end for screwing the spark plug into the engine; the external thread has a center line and begins with a thread start at the front end; the body has a passage in which an insulator is fastened and a center electrode protrudes from the front end of this insulator; at the front end of the body, a prechamber-forming cap is provided, which delimits a prechamber and shields the center electrode from a combustion chamber of the engine after the spark plug has been installed in the engine; the cap has at least one opening, which has a predefined orientation in relation to the thread start and is oriented obliquely to the center line of the external thread so as to permit a gas exchange between the prechamber and the space outside the prechamber.
Ground electrode for spark plug and spark plug
A ground electrode for a spark plug includes a ground electrode body arranged to face a center electrode of the spark plug. The ground electrode includes a discharge portion mounted on the ground electrode body to face the center electrode with a spark gap between the discharge portion and the center electrode. The discharge portion is made of a platinum-based alloy of platinum, rhodium, and nickel. A first mass percent of the rhodium contained in the platinum-based alloy of the platinum, the rhodium, and the nickel is within a first range from 2 wt % to 20 wt % inclusive. A second mass percent of the nickel contained in the platinum-based alloy of the platinum, the rhodium, and the nickel being within a second range from 2.5 wt % to 12 wt % inclusive.
Spark plug
A spark plug includes a center electrode, a tubular metallic shell which holds the center electrode therein in an insulated state, and a ground electrode which faces a forward end portion of the center electrode. The metallic shell has a penetration hole which penetrates the metallic shell in a direction intersecting an axial direction. The ground electrode has a press-fitted portion inserted into the penetration hole and fixed to the metallic shell, a projecting portion projecting toward an inner side of the metallic shell, and an insertion portion disposed between the press-fitted portion and the projecting portion, inserted into the penetration hole, and forming a space between the insertion portion and an inner surface of the penetration hole. An angle α formed between the inner surface of the penetration hole and an outer surface of the insertion portion falls within a range of 0°<α<90°.

Spark plug with multiple spark gaps
A spark plug having multiple spark gaps, where at least one of the spark gaps is located within a prechamber. The spark plug may include a first center wire assembly, a second center wire assembly, an insulator, a metallic shell, a first sparking area with a prechamber cap and a ground electrode for a prechamber spark gap, and a second sparking area with a ground electrode for a main chamber spark gap. The spark plug is designed to maximize engine performance and/or operation by utilizing the multiple spark gaps, where the prechamber spark gap may be used for certain operating conditions where such a spark gap is advantageous and the separate main chamber spark gap may be used for other conditions where a main chamber spark gap is advantageous.
