Method for installing a pulling head assembly

A workstation and method for the installation of a pulling head assembly onto one or more conductors of a cabling system are provided. The workstation incorporates one or more of: a conductor clamp that holds the conductors of the cabling system in place during the installation of the pulling head assembly; a cutting guide having indicia marks that indicate the lengths to which to cut the conductors in order to achieve a staggered pattern of pulling eyes attached to the conductors in the pulling head assembly; a stripping tool that is used to remove a portion of the insulation from the terminal end of each conductor so that the end of the conductor may be inserted into the pulling eye; and a crimping tool that is used to crimp the pulling eyes onto the terminal ends of each of the conductors.

INTRODUCING AN ELONGATED ELEMENT INTO A SUBMARINE DUCT

Method for installing an elongated element, in a submarine duct, the submarine duct having an entry port and an exit port located in outer liquid (OL) at a second depth,

the method comprising the steps of: introducing the elongated element into the entry port, introducing propelling liquid (PL) into the entry port,
characterized in that the method comprises a step of sucking propelling liquid (PL) out of the exit port of the duct with an immerged suction pump being operated at a predetermined suction pressure drop (ΔP.sub.pump) of propelling liquid (PL) so that the predetermined suction pressure drop (ΔP.sub.pump) applied to propelling liquid (PL) is smaller than a hydrostatic pressure (P.sub.hydro) of the outer liquid (OL) at the second depth.

Integrated systems facilitating wire and cable installations

Pulling eyes are provided with integrated wiring systems suitable for installing conductors or cables. The pulling eyes may include body portions that define interior cavities that are sized to snugly engage outside portions of the conductors or cables. The body portions are sized to be deformably crimped onto the outside portions of the conductors or cables. The pulling eyes may also include head portions joined to the body portions, with the head portions defining apertures for receiving a strength member for installing the conductors or cables. These apertures place the interior cavities in communication with the exteriors of the pulling eyes.

WIRE GRABBER

The present invention relates to a wire gripper to aid in wire pulling and method of use, A gripper is inserted into an interior cavity. A base comprises an interior cavity and a threaded attachment. The gripper comprises more than one flexible finger. A wire receptacle is formed between the flexible fingers. The gripper slides into the interior cavity of the base. A collar is open at both the top and bottom end. A wire passes through the top end of the collar and slides into the wire receptacle. The wire is retained within the wire receptacle by fastening the base to the collar causing the flexible finger to apply retaining pressure to the wire preventing the wire from being removed from the wire grabber. A pulling tension is applied by an installer person to the wire grabber to pull the wire from a starting location to a destination location.
