Stripping structure and method for removing enamel insulation from lead ends

Stripping structure strips insulation from ends of a plurality of leads of a lead bundle. Each lead includes a conductor member coated with the insulation. The structure includes a housing having wall structure defining a stripping chamber, an inlet in fluid communication with the stripping chamber, and an outlet in fluid communication with the stripping chamber. A cover has an opening for receiving an end of the lead bundle in a sealing manner so that the leads thereof are received in the stripping chamber. Chemical stripping solution is in communication with the inlet. When the lead bundle is received through the opening with the leads in the stripping chamber and when the chemical stripping solution is provided though inlet and in the stripping chamber, the chemical stripping solution strips the insulation from the conductor members, with the stripping solution along with stripped insulation exiting through the outlet.

Cutting device for removing a cable jacket

According to typical inventive practice, a cable is grasped by a Kellum grip and is positioned through the topside “V”-notch of an “M”-structure. Two wires engage pulleys and a ratchet distanced from the pulleys. The pulleys are joined with a grip plate, attached at an axial end of the Kellum grip. The ratchet is joined with a ratchet plate, proximate and/or attached to the “M”-structure. The “M”-structure has joined therewith three blade wheels having cutting orientations in the same linear direction. The blade wheels are situated interiorly and perpendicularly in correspondence to the geometric sides of the inverted triangle defined by the “V”-notch. Each blade wheel is adjustable to suit the diameter of the cable positioned through the “V”-notch. Ratcheting of the wires moves the ratchet plate and hence the “M”-structure, resulting in creation via the blade wheels of three parallel slices in the cable along its axis.

An apparatus for cutting a previously flared shield conductor of a shielded electrical cable includes a two-piece clamping die having an aperture in which the shielded electrical cable is secured and a cutting surface. The clamping die is opened and closed around the shielded electrical cable. The apparatus further includes a cutting tube configured to be pressed against the cutting surface while the flared shield conductor is between the cutting tube and the cutting surface, thereby cutting a portion of a free end of the flared shield conductor. Alternatively, the apparatus may include a die comprising a cutting surface and an aperture in which the end of the shielded electrical cable is received. The cutting tube has two parts that are closed about the shielded electrical cable and pressed against the cutting surface while the flared shield conductor is disposed between the cutting tube and the cutting surface.
