Conduit space recovery system
Space in a conduit having at least one cable therein which is surrounded by a duct is recovered by longitudinally cutting the duct and removing the duct from around the cable. The duct may be pulled out of the conduit and past a blade to affect the cutting, or a blade may be pulled through the conduit to cut the duct while still in the conduit.
CABLE BRAID FLARE MECHANISM FOR CABLE PREPARATION MACHINE
A cable preparation machine includes a blade assembly having a plurality of arms and braid blades mounted to the corresponding arms. The arms and the braid blades are disposed about a cable opening configured to receive an end of a cable therein along a cable axis. The arms are movable relative to each other between retracted positions and advanced positions. The arms move the braid blades closer to each other within the cable opening as the arms are moved from the retracted positions to the advanced positions. The braid blades have edges configured to engage a cable braid of the cable. The braid blades are driven inward by the arms moving to the advanced positions to pinch the cable braid inward against an inner insulator of the cable and flare outward an end of the cable braid forward of the braid blades.
Foil peeling apparatus and foil peeling method
A foil peeling apparatus includes an electric wire gripping unit configured to grip a multi-core electric wire including wire members linearly arranged in parallel, a foil covering the wire members, and a sheath covering the foil, the sheath being peeled off at a tip end portion of the electric wire such that the foil is exposed. The foil peeling apparatus further includes: a wire member space forming unit configured to be pressed against an exposed portion of the foil between the wire members so as to form a space between the wire members; a foil cutting unit configured to be abutted against the exposed portion of the foil corresponding to the space formed between the wire members so as to form a cut in the foil; and a foil removal unit configured to open the foil from the cut, and cut the foil which has been opened.
Removing a metal shield from electrical cable
A system and method for removing a metal foil shield from electrical wires and/or cable, using ablation process, shear stress generation and video camera feedback is disclosed. The metal foil shield is removed using ablation process, shear stress generation and video camera feedback. The system includes a holder configured to hold an electrical cable, a laser configured to provide a laser radiation beam and an optical system configured to shape the laser radiation beam and concentrate the laser radiation beam on surface of the metal foil shield with power sufficient to ablate a groove on the surface of the metal shield and a gripper configured to grip a segment of the electrical cable that protrudes from the holder twist it such as to generate a shear stress in the groove and separate the segment of the electrical cable from the rest of the cable.
POWER CABLE JACKET REMOVAL DEVICE AND METHODS OF REMOVING A JACKET FROM A CABLE
A cable jacket removal device is used to selectively remove a sheath from a length of a sheathed cable. The cable jacket removal device includes a support frame, a drive shaft, and a motor. The support frame removably couples the removal device to the cable to be stripped. The drive shaft is coupled to the support frame. The motor is coupled to the drive shaft to selectively rotate the drive shaft to cause the removal device to travel along the cable to automatically remove a cable jacket from a predefined distance of the cable.
BRAID PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING BRAIDED CABLE
A braid processing device trims an end portion of an exposed braid of a braid-shielded cable including a cable center portion (e.g., two insulated wires), a braid that covers an outer circumferential surface of the cable center portion, and a sheath that covers an outer circumferential surface of the braid, the exposed braid being exposed from the sheath. The braid processing device includes a braid raising mechanism that raises the exposed braid from the cable center portion toward an outer circumferential side, and a shearing mechanism. The shearing mechanism includes an outer blade that has an annular outer cutting edge, an inner blade that has an annular inner cutting edge, the annular outer cutting edge and the annular inner cutting edge being capable of shearing the exposed braid therebetween, and a blade driving portion that relatively moves the inner blade toward the annular outer cutting edge.
FLEXIBLE CABLE WITH STRUCTURALLY ENHANCED CONDUCTORS
In an electrical cable of the type having an outer sheath enclosing a conductor assembly comprising a plurality of insulated conductors disposed within a binder, the binder having a crush resistance for protecting the insulated conductors, an improvement in which a strength enhancer is applied such that the binder can be removed without decreasing a crush resistance of the electrical cable.

Cable measurement system and cutter apparatus
A cable measurement system and cutter apparatus has a housing, a display device, a material conduit, a rotary encoder, a cutting tool handle a resistance member a movable cutting blade and a blade aperture. The cutter system is able to measure the length of a cable that passes through the material conduit which traverses through the housing. The display device is mounted onto the housing and is coupled to the rotary encoder which measures the length of cable passed through the housing. The encoder is mounted next to the conduit so that the cable is measured, and the length is displayed on the display device. one end of the cutting tool handle is rotatably mounted to the housing and the movable blade is mounted onto the opposite end of the handle. The blade is able to cut the cable by moving through the blade aperture which traverses through the conduit.
