A spacer device includes an elongate spacing member extending a longitudinal axis for securing to electrical transmission lines, and has a minimum thickness d.sub.m. At least one thickened portion having a thickness T.sub.t and length d.sub.t is positioned intermediate along the spacing member to form at least two column lengths L.sub.c separated by the at least one thickened portion. Each column length L.sub.c has a portion with the minimum thickness d.sub.m. The thickness T.sub.t and length d.sub.t of the at least one thickened portion can be at least two times the minimum thickness d.sub.m to form at least one end support for the at least two column lengths L.sub.c, such the at least two column lengths L.sub.c behave as separate Euler type columns for producing increased Euler buckling strength with a minimal increase in weight.

Among other things, a spacer unit for spacing apart a bundle of cables is provided. The spacer unit comprises two or more spacer assemblies which are adjustable to provide for various sized bundle configurations and/or to provide for various degrees of spacing. Respective spacer assemblies comprise a housing apparatus and a modular frame. The housing apparatus couples to a clamping arm that clamps to a cable. The modular frame allows the spacer assembly to be coupled to other spacer assemblies to vary a configuration of a spacing unit, and is configured for selective rotation relative to the housing apparatus to facilitate altering a shape of the spacer assembly.

Hinged clamp for spacer-damper

A clamp for a spacer-damper includes a first jaw and a second jaw connected to the first jaw. The first jaw has a first clamping surface and a first aperture. The first aperture retains the fastener in an initial position and in a second position spaced latterly from said initial position. The second jaw has a second clamping surface and an open-ended second aperture. The second aperture receives the fastener in the second position. The first jaw may also include a keeper surface for receiving the fastener in an initial position, a keeper pocket for receiving the fastener in a second position and a keeper protrusion is positioned between the keeper surface and the keeper pocket.

A spacer clamp assembly includes a clamping body with a recess for receiving a cable and a bolt hole defining a passage. A resilient member on the clamping body has a bolt hole receiving a clamping bolt. The bolt is resiliently biased in the bolt hole of the resilient member to a clamping position. A keeper has a first end coupled to the first end of the clamping body and a second end with an open slot configured for mating with the clamping bolt in the clamping position. The keeper has a contact surface to contact the clamping bolt during closing of the keeper for guiding the bolt along the contact surface into the slot. The resilient member enables the clamping bolt to move when contacting the contact surface and bias the bolt into the slot to the clamping position in the closed clamping position.

A clamp for a utility line spacer includes a first jaw having a first clamping surface, a first aperture, and upper slot extending from the first aperture. A second jaw having a second clamping surface and an open-ended second aperture is connected to the first jaw. A first bushing is engaged with the first clamping surface of the first jaw. A second bushing is engaged with the second clamping surface of the second jaw. A fastener secures the first jaw relative to the first jaw. The first aperture is configured to receive the fastener in a first position and the upper slot is configured to permit rotation of the fastener relative to the first aperture to a second position.

APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR REMOVING LINE SPACERS

Apparatuses and methods for removing line spacers from wires such as electrical power transmission wires, guy wires, and the like are disclosed. The apparatuses include robotic devices that convey along the wires and cut the line spacers therefrom with reciprocating blade cutting mechanisms.
