Method of manufacturing HVDC mass impregnated cable transition joint
11876358 · 2024-01-16 · ·

A method for creating a flexible transition joint between HVDC-MI cables having different diameters. The central wires of the conductors are thermally joined by a conical connection piece. The strands of the layers of stranded wires surrounding the central wires are rewound, cut and thermally joined along their respective lay lengths. The stranded are sanded/ground along the lay length of the strands to form a smooth uniform transition having the same slope as the conical connection piece. A paper lapping machine is used to form an insulation patch over the transition joint.

Open splice electrical box, method of manufacture, and method of use
11881695 · 2024-01-23 ·

A one-piece injection molded plastic electrical box. The box has an integrated lid which is connected to the body of the box via a living hinge, also formed during the molding process. Four slots on either of four walls allow wires to enter the box from all sides. These openings have doors are designed to bend down, allowing space for the wires to be inserted. Once all wires are placed within the box, the top lid is closed and latched. The bent opening doors act as clamps to secure the wires by applying pressure to the wires as those doors attempt to bend back to their original orientation. This box may be installed without requiring power to be cut off to the splice connection.

Waterproof wire harness

A wire harness can ensure waterproofness of an exposed conductor portion, and even when at least one of insulated wires is exposed to a high temperature, can suppress loosening of a rubber stopper of a waterproofing terminal. An outer periphery of a region containing an exposed conductor portion and coating material end portions is continuously covered with a protective film. At each of the coating material end portions, a gap between a coating material and the protective film covering the coating material is sealed with a waterproofing agent. At least one insulated wire has a flow path through which gas flows, the flow path being created in gaps between strands that constitute a conductor of the insulated wire and reaching from a coating material end portion opposite to the coating material end portion adjacent to the exposed conductor portion to a splice portion.
