An apparatus and method for minimizing inrush power. The method includes transmitting a load energization signal from a primary microcontroller to a logic latch or secondary microcontroller, transmitting a zero-cross voltage signal from a zero-cross sensor coupled to the load power to the logic latch or secondary microcontroller, and transmitting an energize signal from the logic latch or secondary microcontroller to a relay after the receipt of an energize signal from the primary microcontroller and after receipt of a zero-cross signal.
Intelligent power strip with management of bistable relays to reduce current in-rush
The present disclosure relates to a power distribution unit (PDU) having at least one power receptacle for enabling attachment of an AC power cord of an external device thereto. A branch receptacle controller (BRC) has at least one bistable relay and is associated with the one power receptacle for supplying AC power thereto from an AC power source. The BRC monitors a voltage of an external power source and uses it to detect when AC power is lost, and then toggles the bistable relay, if the relay is in a closed position, to an open position.
Apparatus and method for controlling circuit breaker for static synchronous compensator
Provided is an apparatus and method for controlling a circuit breaker for a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) such that the circuit breaker installed in a branch line for the STATCOM is operated according to the current control characteristics of the STATCOM, the apparatus including: a transformer protector for detecting the differential current between primary current and secondary current of a transformer connected in series to the circuit breaker in the branch line, and controlling the opening/closing of the circuit breaker; and a STATCOM controller for controlling an operation of the STATCOM, wherein the STATCOM controller outputs, to the transformer protector, an opening suspension signal for suspending the opening of the circuit breaker when overvoltage occurring in the STATCOM is detected, and the transformer protector suspends output of a circuit breaker opening signal to the circuit breaker according to the received opening suspension signal.
Power supply control apparatus
A control circuit turns ON or OFF a switch that is provided at a midpoint of a wire. Thus, power supply via the wire is controlled. A current output circuit outputs a current that corresponds to a current flowing through the wire to a resistance circuit. In the resistance circuit, a series circuit of a resistor (R2) and a capacitor (C1) is connected in parallel to a resistor (R1). The control circuit) turns OFF the switch if the end-to-end voltage value of a voltage across both ends of the resistance circuit is larger than or equal to a reference voltage value.
