COUPLING DEVICE

A coupling device (100) for transferring a fluid is provided. The coupling device comprises a first housing (110), a tube portion (140) projecting into the first housing, and a second housing (200) displaceably arranged within the first housing. The coupling device further comprises a third housing (300) releasably connectable to the second housing and displaceably arranged within the first housing when connected to the second housing. In a first position of the second housing, the first and second channels constitute a passage which is sealed by the first and second sealing elements when the second housing and the third housing are connected. In a second position, the tube portion projects through the first and second sealing elements and into the sealed passage for enabling a transfer of fluid through the coupling device.

Fluid-connecting element

A fluid-connecting element with a first receiving space with a first connecting element and a first displaceable valve element, and a second receiving space with a second connecting element and a second displaceable valve element. A fluid connection between the first receiving space and the first connecting element being interrupted by the first valve element in the first position, and a fluid connection between the first receiving space and the first connecting element being opened by the first valve element in the second position. The second valve element is displaceable between two positions, wherein a fluid connection between the second receiving space and the second connecting element is interrupted by the second valve element in the first position, and a fluid connection between the second receiving space and the second connecting element is opened by the second valve element in the second position.

Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to a medical connector having a backflow resistance module configured to prevent fluid from being drawn into the connector when a backflow inducing event occurs. In some embodiments, the backflow resistance module can include a variable-volume chamber configured to change in volume in response to a backflow-inducing event and a check valve configured to resist backflow. In some embodiments, the medical connector can include a fluid diverter configured to direct fluid flowing through the medical connector into the variable volume chamber to prevent fluid stagnation therein. In some embodiments, the medical connector includes a body member, a base member, a seal member, a support member, and a valve member.

CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY FOR CONNECTING MEDICAL LINES TO EACH OTHER

A connector assembly for connecting medical lines (3, 4) to each other comprises a first connector (1) having an insertion shaft (12), and a second connector (2) having an insertion opening (22). For connecting the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) to each other, the insertion shaft (12) of the first connector (1) is insertable along an insertion direction (I) into the insertion opening (22) of the second connector (2). For releasing the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) from each other, the insertion shaft (12) of the first connector (1) is removable from the insertion opening (22) of the second connector (2). The first connector (1) comprises an elastic member (14) arranged on the insertion shaft (12), wherein the elastic member (14) comprises an abutment portion (141) abutting a surface (121) of the insertion shaft (12) and being displaceable along the insertion direction (I) relative to the surface (121) of the insertion shaft (12) upon releasing the first connector (1) and the second connector (2) from each other. In this way a connector assembly is provided which, in an easy way, allows for the cleaning of at least the first connector.

Reservoir pressure equalization systems and methods

Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to equalizing pressure in a reservoir containing fluidic media, possibly due to imperfect installation of the reservoir or an external influence such as an altitude or a temperature change. In various embodiments, fluidic media may be expelled from the reservoir through a needle and contained in an interior volume of a pierceable member before the needle pierces the pierceable member to establish a flow path to a user. In other embodiments, fluidic media may be expelled through a port of the reservoir into a chamber or to the outside environment. In further embodiments, fluidic media may be expelled through a channel in a plunger head and out a passage in the reservoir when the channel and passage are aligned. In other embodiments, fluidic media may be expelled through a valve, and the valve may be pierceable by a needle to establish a flow path to the user.
