Fluid infusion device and related sealing assembly for a needleless fluid reservoir
Disclosed herein is a fluid infusion device of the type that delivers medication fluid to the body of a patient. The device includes or cooperates with a fluid reservoir, and the device has a sealing assembly to receive and form a fluid seal with the fluid reservoir. A retractable sealing element surrounding a hollow fluid delivery needle may be used to seal a port of the fluid reservoir. The port may include a pressure vent that is sealed by the retractable sealing element. In one variation, the reservoir includes a moving valve sleeve that holds a septum. The septum moves to allow the reservoir to vent, and to form a seal with the port when the needle pierces the septum. In another variation, the device includes a needleless sealing assembly. In yet other variations, the device uses a needled fluid reservoir.
Needlefree valve device
Needle free valve device (1) for controlling the flow of fluid in a pathway, the device (1) being operable in a closed and in an open configuration and comprising a first component (3), a second component (9), a locking means configured to selectively engage the first component (3) with the second component (9) in the open configuration when the first component (3) is displaced in an opening direction (23) along a valve axis toward the second component (9) or in the closed configuration when the first component (3) is displaced against the opening direction (23) away from the second component (9), and a sealing component (15) having a resilient portion (19), the resilient portion (19) comprising at least one slit (26) and engaging the second component (9) to provide a seal in the closed configuration, wherein the resilient portion (19) is adapted to move, buckle or flex to enable fluid flow through the at least one slit (26) upon application of a mechanical force of the second component (9) on the resilient portion (19) against the opening direction (23) when assuming the open configuration, and wherein the resilient portion (19) is adapted to return the valve device (1) to the closed configuration when the mechanical force is no longer applied.
DRY DISCONNECT/BUBBLE FREE COUPLING FOR BLOOD TRANSFER
A dry disconnect device including a first portion defining an outlet and an outlet portion of a fluid pathway and a female valve disposed within the first portion having an extended position, including the female valve being configured to seal the outlet portion, and a retracted position. A second portion defining an inlet and an inlet portion of the fluid pathway is lockingly engageable with the first portion. A male valve is disposed within the second portion including a male valve transition member configured to translate the male valve from an extended position to a retracted position including the male valve being configured to seal the inlet portion. The extended position of the male valve causes the female valve to transition from the extended position to the retracted position and causes the outlet portion and the inlet portion of the fluid pathway to be in fluid communication with each other.
NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR HAVING CHECK VALVE WITH LIP SEAL
A valve member for a connector includes a head portion, a body portion, and a circumferential lip seal extending radially outward from an outer surface of the head portion. The head portion includes a top section defining a first seal portion. The body portion extends longitudinally from the head portion and defines a second seal portion at a proximal end thereof. The second seal portion is disposed distally to the first seal portion. The circumferential lip seal is disposed between the first and second seal portions.
Connector for connecting a first medical line to a second medical line
A connector for connecting a first medical line to a second medical line is disclosed. This connector comprises an insertion shaft (12) having a flow channel that is intended to be brought into fluid communication with a lumen of a first medical line (3); a collar (10) that circumferentially extends around the insertion shaft (12), wherein the collar (10) comprises a first thread (100) on an inner side that faces the insertion shaft (12); and an elastic member (14) that is placed between the insertion shaft (12) and the collar (10), wherein the elastic member (14) comprises an abutment portion (141) abutting a surface of the insertion shaft (12) and being displaceable relative to the surface of the insertion shaft (12). The collar (10) is radially movable around the insertion shaft (12) and the elastic member (14) comprises a thread portion (142) having a second thread that engages the first thread (100) of the collar (10) such that a rotational movement of the collar (10) around the insertion shaft (12) results in a lateral displacement of the elastic member (14) along the surface of the insertion shaft (12). Furthermore, a method for operating such a connector is disclosed. Additionally, a connector assembly comprising such a connector is disclosed.
SPLIT SEPTUM NEEDLE FREE CONNECTOR AND POST NEEDLE FREE CONNECTOR WITH SLEEVE SEPTUM FUSE CONCEPT
Fluid connectors assemblies that provide neutral fluid displacement are disclosed. A fluid connector assembly may include first member and a second member. A deformable sleeve is located on a post of the second member. A septum is located on an opening of the first member. The first member and the second member each include an opening. The sleeve can seal off the opening of the post from fluid entry. However, when the post of the second member is inserted into the first member, a septum of the first member displaces a sleeve of the second member, causing the sleeve to uncover the opening. Further, the septum seals each of the first member and the second member and the displaced sleeve forms a fluid path through the first and second member, with the sleeve regulating fluid flow.
Coupling element for a closed fluid transfer system, counter coupling element for a coupling element of this type, and coupling system
A coupling member for a closed fluid transfer system includes a housing having a fluid connection and a coupling side. The housing includes a longitudinal axis extending from the fluid connection toward the coupling side and a spike having a fluid opening. The fluid opening is arranged in an end portion of the spike facing the coupling side. A sealing member receptacle is arranged in the housing on the coupling side, and a sealing member is arranged in the sealing member receptacle. The housing includes a housing portion that at least partially surrounds the sealing member receptacle and a threaded portion. The coupling housing with the sealing member is guided by a guiding structure and movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis via the threaded portion between a position with maximum distance to the fluid connection and a position with minimum distance to the fluid connection.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MEDICAL CLEANING VALVES
A medical cleaning valve (or cleaning valve) may be configured to provide cleaning functionality to fluid (e.g., air and water) channels of an endoscope. Many embodiments described herein may include a cleaning valve (or valve) that is appropriate for single-use and therefore may be disposable. Accordingly, the valve may be made from a limited number of parts and materials, e.g., to limit its cost and/or manufacturing complexity. For example, multiple seals may be integrally formed with a valve stem. In another example, the valve may have an interface member, which may combine and simplify the functionality of a number of components, such as by connecting the valve stem to a valve well, sealing an opening to a lumen in the valve stem, and/or biasing the valve stem into a position relative to the valve well.
AXIALLY ENGAGING MEDICAL CONNECTOR SYSTEM WITH DIMINISHED FLUID REMNANTS
A connector system for medical fluid includes a male connector and a female connector that have a closed configuration when detached from one another. The first end of the male connector is configured to mate with a first end of the female connector. When the male connector is coupled with the female connector, complementary structures engage to move seals away from ports in the male connector and the female connector, opening a fluid pathway through the connectors. The mating ends of the connectors are not exposed to the medical fluid when the connectors are coupled so that when the connectors are disconnected, the mating ends are substantially free of residual medical fluid.
MEDICAL CONNECTOR WITH CLOSEABLE LUER CONNECTOR
Some embodiments relate to a luer connector comprising a housing having a hollow bore therethrough, a first end, and a second end, a male luer tip supported by the housing configured to rotate with respect to the housing, the luer tip having a first open end and a passageway through the luer tip in fluid communication with the first open end, and a substantially rigid internal member extending into the passageway of the luer tip toward the first open end of the luer tip. In some embodiments, at least one of the luer tip and the internal member can be axially moveable between a first closed position and a second open position relative to the other of the luer tip and the internal member. Further, the luer tip and the internal member can cooperate such that rotation of the luer tip in a first direction relative to the housing increases an axial displacement between the first open end of the luer tip and an end portion of the internal member.
