Controlling a wind farm
11629697 · 2023-04-18 · ·

Provided is a method of controlling a wind turbine group having a plurality of wind turbines. Each wind turbine generates electrical power as wind turbine output power for feeding into an electrical supply network. The group feeds a group power output into the network at a grid connection point, and the group power output is substantially formed as the sum of all the turbine power outputs of the group. A maximum group power output is specified for limiting the group power output, a control value for compliance with the maximum group power output is transferred to each wind turbine in the group in order to limit the output power of the respective wind turbine to a maximum value defined by the control value, and a control relationship is determined between potential control values and potential group power outputs using the control relationships and depending on the maximum group power output.

Power grid resource allocation

A method of operating a power grid includes: generating, by a power management system of the power grid, an intermediate resource allocation schedule that provides a tentative schedule of resource allocation for power grid resources operating within the power grid; determining, by the power management system, whether the intermediate resource allocation schedule is feasible by checking whether the intermediate resource allocation schedule satisfies coupling constraints of a power grid resource allocation profile of the power grid indicative of an operation of the power grid constrained by power grid operational information; and in response to determining that the intermediate resource allocation schedule is infeasible, repairing, by the power management system, the intermediate resource allocation schedule to generate a feasible resource allocation schedule, where the repairing comprises determining whether a first dispatch solution obtained by solving a dispatch problem with fixed integer decisions from the intermediate resource allocation schedule is feasible.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REACTOR POWER FLOW MANAGEMENT FOR SYSTEM STABILITY

An electric power delivery system may include a number of electric power generators and loads distributed across a number of islands (e.g., branches). The electric power delivery system may also include reactors between each two islands of the electric power delivery system that may allow current flow between the islands. However, excessive current flow across the reactors may cause system failure and is undesirable. Accordingly, systems and methods are described to control reactive power and active power generation and consumption of the electric power delivery system to reduce (e.g., minimize) the current flow across the reactors.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ASSESSMENT OF DISTRIBUTED ENERGY RESOURCES

Methods and systems are described for determining value and placement of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).

System and method for distributing electrical power

A system for managing the distribution of electrical power between at least two distinct buildings each comprising a domestic network connected to a local network is provided, said local network being connected to a public network. Each building comprises a power source, an inverter connected to said power source, a battery supplied with power by the inverter, and at least one apparatus operating using the power from the domestic network. The system comprises, in each building, a domestic module for regulating the power flow through the domestic network. The system comprises a central module connected to each domestic module making it possible to regulate the power flow between the local network and the public network, said central module being arranged so as to regulate the power flow between the buildings in order to allow an exchange of power between a domestic network in excess and a domestic network in deficit.

A hierarchical approach is provided to integrate functions and components into the various systems and subsystems within a distribution network, including standardization of modular and scalable power electronics power blocks with embedded diagnostics and prognostics.

VALIDATING POWER NETWORK MODELS FOR MONITORING AND CORRECTING OPERATION OF ELECTRIC POWER NETWORKS
20170373535 · 2017-12-28 ·

This disclosure involves verifying that a power network model corresponds to an electric power network providing electrical power in a geographical area. For instance, a validation device computes a validation score for a power network model based on a connectivity score, an asset score, and a power-flow score. The connectivity score indicates connectivity errors in the power network model as compared to the power network. The asset score indicates power-delivery errors in the power network model with respect to power-consuming assets serviced by the power network. The power-flow score indicates power-flow calculation errors in the power network model with respect to voltage ranges for the power network. The validation score is repeatedly computed for iteratively updated versions of the power network model until a threshold validation score is obtained. The validated power network model is provided to a control system for identifying and correcting errors in the power network.
