Microgrid overcurrent protection device
A microgrid overcurrent protection device and a method for overcurrent protection of a microgrid. The protection device including a voltage controlled overcurrent detector for detecting an overcurrent above an overcurrent threshold and a phase directional detector arranged for current direction in a downstream or an upstream direction. The overcurrent threshold of the voltage controlled overcurrent detector is set at an upper overcurrent threshold when a measured voltage Vm is above a threshold voltage Vs and set at a lower overcurrent threshold when the measured voltage Vm is below the threshold voltage Vs. The device further includes a timer arranged for generating a trigger signal with a first delay time period when a downstream current direction and an overcurrent are detected and with a second delay time period when an upstream current direction and an overcurrent are detected.
Deep convolutional neural network based anomaly detection for transactive energy systems
A computer-implemented method for power grid anomaly detection using a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained to detect anomalies in electricity demand data and electricity supply data includes receiving (i) electricity demand data comprising time series measurements of consumption of electricity by a plurality of consumers, and (ii) electricity supply data comprising time series measurements of availability of electricity by one or more producers. An input matrix is generated that comprises the electricity demand data and the electricity supply data. The CNN is applied to the input matrix to yield a probability of anomaly in the electricity demand data and the electricity supply data. If the probability of anomaly is above a threshold value, an alert message is generated for one or more system operators.
Control device for handling the transfer of electric power
Electric power is transferred to an electric load as alternating current over at least two incoming and outgoing lines. At least one line circuit manages at least one parameter of the transferred electric power. A central circuit exchanges data and/or commands with the at least one line circuit over a respective galvanically isolated communication interface, such that a reference potential of the central circuit is floating relative to an earth potential of the at least two incoming and outgoing lines. A respective surge protection capacitor is arranged in parallel with each galvanically isolated communication interface. The surge protection capacitors are configured to accumulate a respective fraction of an electric charge resulting from an undesired overvoltage on one of said incoming lines so as to split up the undesired overvoltage into two or more voltages over the galvanically isolated communication interfaces each of which voltage is smaller than the undesired overvoltage.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER FOR AN ELECTRICAL GRID
A method and system for controlling voltage and reactive power for electrical grids includes monitoring the output of the energy generation facilities at the point of interconnection (POI) of each energy generation facility to the power transmission system of the electrical grid. In addition, the voltage at a point of utilization (POU) is monitored to determine when the output voltage of the energy generation facilities must be adjusted to maintain voltage at the POU. In addition, when it is determined that energy generation facilities are exchanging reactive power, the voltage set points of the energy generation facilities are adjusted to reduce the exchanged power.
Recovered electric power measuring system and method for collecting data from a recovered electric power measuring system
Apparatus and methods for recovering energy in a petroleum, petrochemical, or chemical plant as described. The invention relates to a recovered electric power measuring system comprising at least one processor; at least one memory storing computer-executable instructions; and at least one receiver configured to receive data from a sensor on an electrical powerline connected to a generator of a power-recovery turbine, the power-recovery turbine located in a petroleum, petrochemical, or chemical process zone wherein a portion of a first process stream flows through the power-recovery turbine and generates recovered electric power as direct current, the power-recovery turbine electrically connected to a single DC to AC inverter and the output of the DC to AC inverter electrically connected to a first substation.
Systems and methods for measuring internal transformer temperatures
A system may include a transformer that may convert a first voltage to a second voltage, such that the second voltage is output via a conductor. The system may also include a wireless current sensor that may detect current data associated with current conducting via the conductor and a processor. The processor may receive the current data, determine one or more temperature measurements associated with the transformer based on the current data, and send a signal to a component in response to the one or more temperature measurements exceeding one or more respective threshold values.
CONDITION-BASED CIRCUIT BREAKER MAINTENANCE ARRANGEMENT FOR ELECTRICAL POWER DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE
A computer-automated maintaining of circuit breakers in a power distribution infrastructure based upon operating conditions recorded during breaker events of particular identified circuit breakers is described herein. The breaker event data sets are accumulated initially by file servers in a variety of formats. A parser performs an automated parsing of the breaker event data sets to render breaker event records that are thereafter stored in a central data repository. Maintenance engines apply data analysis and decision logic to particular event records for particular identified circuit breakers obtained from the central data repository and issue requests for actions to be taken with respect to the particular identified circuit breakers based upon operating conditions experienced by the particular identified circuit breakers.
Energy saving support system
An energy saving support system according to an embodiment is configured to provide a consumer, who has an electric load to which electric energy is supplied from an electric power supply system within a house, with energy consumption-related information through a photo frame or the like. The information providing apparatus is configured to acquire an acceptability level, which stepwise indicates a degree of interest of the consumer in the energy consumption-related information, and to determine the energy consumption-related information to be newly provided to the consumer based on the acceptability level.
Systems and methods for advanced energy settlements, network-based messaging, and applications supporting the same on a blockchain platform
Systems and methods for financial settlement of transactions within an electric power grid network are disclosed. A multiplicity of active grid elements are constructed and configured for electric connection and network-based communication over a blockchain-based platform. The multiplicity of active grid elements are operable to make peer-to-peer transactions based on their participation within the electric power grid by generating and executing a digital contract. The multiplicity of active grid elements generate messages autonomously and/or automatically within a predetermined time interval. The messages comprise energy related data and settlement related data. The energy related data of the multiplicity of active grid elements are based on measurement and verification. The energy related data and the settlement related data are validated and recorded on a distributed ledger with a time stamp and a geodetic reference.
Power distribution network monitoring system and power distribution network monitoring device
A power distribution network monitoring system includes a plurality of measuring instruments that are installed at predetermined positions on power lines constituting a power distribution network and configured to perform electrical measurement of the power lines; a data collection relay configured to receive data related to measurement results from the plurality of measuring instruments; an imaging unit that is disposed near the data collection relay and configured to capture an image including the data collection relay; an abnormality detector configured to use the image captured by the imaging unit to detect an abnormality in the data collection relay; and a storage unit configured to store image data taken by the imaging unit. The image data consists of a single image previously captured by the imaging unit.
