CARDIAC ASSIST DEVICE WITH HIGH FREQUENCY OPERATION
A cardiac assist device with an expandable cup (4) having a transport state and an operational state, the expandable cup comprising a plurality of inflow apertures (5), and an outflow nozzle (6), and an inflatable balloon (8) positioned inside the expandable cup (4). A catheter assembly (3) is connected to the inflatable balloon (8) during operation, and a control unit (2) is connected to the catheter assembly (3). The control unit (2) is arranged to operate the inflatable balloon (8) with a frequency of more than 100 beats per minute.
PUMPING CASSETTE
A pumping cassette including a housing having at least two inlet fluid lines and at least two outlet fluid lines. At least one balancing pod within the housing and in fluid connection with the fluid paths. The balancing pod balances the flow of a first fluid and the flow of a second fluid such that the volume of the first fluid equals the volume of the second fluid. The balancing pod also includes a membrane that forms two balancing chambers. Also included in the cassette is at least two reciprocating pressure displacement membrane pumps. The pumps are within the housing and they pump the fluid from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet line and pump the second fluid from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet.
Artificial heart system
An artificial heart system for human beings or other creatures, comprises at least one half of the heart, to be implemented into the body, instead of or in parallel to the biologic heart or outside of human body for example for a portable dialysis apparatus, maintaining or supporting at least one blood circulatory system or circuit of the human being or the other creature as a pump, completely or partially, and at least one drive unit and at least one control unit, preferably to be placed outside the body.
Blood circuit assembly for a hemodialysis system
A blood circuit assembly for a dialysis unit may include an organizing tray, a pair of pneumatic pumps mounted to the organizing tray for circulating blood received from a patient through a circuit including a dialyzer unit and returned to the patient, an air trap mounted to the organizing tray arranged to remove air from blood circulating in the circuit, a pair of dialyzer connections arranged to connect to the inlet and outlet of a dialyzer unit, and a pair of blood line connectors, one inlet blood line connector for receiving blood from the patient and providing blood to the pneumatic pumps and the other outlet blood line connector for returning blood to the patient.
Method of draining a device for extracorporeal blood treatment
A method of draining a device for extracorporeal blood treatment, wherein the device comprises a dialyzer which is divided by means of a membrane into a first chamber and a second chamber, an arterial line connected to a blood inlet of the first chamber, a venous line connected to a blood outlet of the first chamber, a dialysis fluid line for fresh dialysis fluid connected to a dialysis fluid inlet of the second chamber and a dialysis fluid line for used dialysis fluid connected to a dialysis fluid outlet of the second chamber, a blood pump disposed in the arterial line, a venous expansion chamber disposed in the venous line and an air detector unit downstream of the venous expansion chamber, and wherein the method comprises the following steps of: connecting a patient-side port of the arterial line to a patient-side port of the venous line; generating a negative pressure in the second chamber; operating the blood pump in a first direction and draining the arterial and venous lines in the first direction via the membrane and the second chamber; and stopping the blood pump and draining the arterial and venous lines in a second direction opposed to the first direction via the membrane and the second chamber.
VALVE LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
An improved valve leak detection system. The improved valve leak detection system comprises a membrane pump defining a flow path arranged to be opened and closed by at least one valve, a measuring device; a comparator; and a signal generator. The measuring device is configured to determine a conductivity value between two points on the flow path of the membrane pump, one point arranged upstream of the at least one valve and the other point arranged downstream of the at least one valve. The measuring device measures the conductivity value when the at least one valve is closed. The comparator is configured to continuously monitor the conductivity value. The signal generator is arranged to provide an output signal when the conductivity value is indicative of a valve leak condition for a set number of measurements within a set period of time.
Dialysis systems and related methods
A dialysis machine that includes a valve member having a deformable area configured to deform outwardly away when pressurized fluid is introduced into the valve member. The valve member is configured so that, when a dialysis fluid cassette is disposed in a cassette compartment of the dialysis machine and pressurized fluid is introduced into the valve member, the deformable area obstructs a fluid channel of the dialysis fluid cassette to control dialysis fluid flow therethrough.
Pressure manifold system for dialysis
A medical fluid pneumatic manifold system includes a first plate including a plurality of apertures, a second plate attached to the first plate so as to form a plurality of pneumatic flowpaths sealed between the first plate and the second plate, a plurality of tubing connections and a plurality of pneumatic tubes connected to the plurality of tubing connections, the plurality of tubing connections placing the plurality of pneumatic tubes in pneumatic communication with the plurality of pneumatic flowpaths via the plurality of apertures of the first plate, and a pneumatic reservoir in pneumatic communication with the plurality of pneumatic flowpaths, the pneumatic reservoir configured to provide pneumatic pressure to the plurality of pneumatic tubes.
