The soft-start circuit uses a plurality of current limit values so as to achieve a maximum output power and prevent damage to a motor coil.

IPM motor flying start using high frequency injection

A power conversion system includes an inverter and a controller configured to: responsive to startup of the system, measure a motor speed of the IPM motor; responsive to the motor speed being less than a threshold, generate the inverter switching control signals to perform high frequency injection (HFI); during the HFI, determine a measured angle of the IPM motor; during the HFI, generate the inverter switching control signals to provide an injected current to the IPM motor; detect acceleration or deceleration of the IPM motor responsive to the injected current; selectively determine an electrical angle as half the measured angle or as 180 degrees plus half the measured angle based on the detected acceleration or deceleration of the IPM motor; and responsive to determining the electrical angle, generate the inverter switching control signals to drive the IPM motor to a reference frequency in a normal operating mode of the inverter.

Assisted racking of digital resistance includes detecting a state of a cable. A motor is mechanically coupled to the cable to provide resistance during an exercise by tensioning the cable. It further includes determining completion of the exercise based at least in part on the detected state of the cable. It further includes selectively removing resistance from the cable based at least in part on the determination that the user has completed the exercise.

A voltage divider circuit is configured by a resistor having one end connected to a positive electrode of a battery configuring a power source and another end connected to a first terminal that is a motor terminal on one side of a wiper motor, and a FET having one end connected to the first terminal and another end grounded. The voltage divider circuit lowers a voltage of the battery to a test voltage that does not cause the wiper motor to rotate. A microcomputer detects a detected voltage that is a voltage output from the voltage divider circuit to a second terminal that is a motor terminal on the other side of the wiper motor via the first terminal of the wiper motor and the wiper motor, and computes a motor terminal voltage, this being a potential difference between the first terminal and the second terminal, from the detected voltage.

A battery state estimating apparatus as an embodiment includes a state estimator, a power estimator, and a determiner. The state estimator estimates a state of a battery. The power estimator estimates first power amount charged/discharged by the battery within a charging/discharging period, based on the state. The determiner compares the first power amount with second power amount inputted/outputted to/from the battery within the charging/discharging period and thereby determines validity of the state.

Low acoustic noise open loop motor startup

Methods and apparatus for open loop startup of a three-phase motor that reduces acoustic noise. During rotor alignment of the motor, there is a maximum level for a phase current to the motor. After the rotor alignment, open loop motor startup is performed during which the phase current has a first slope. At a selected time, such as when a frequency of the phase current reaches a first threshold, the phase current transitions to a second slope.

A method and a device for controlling an electric motor (9), in particular for moving an endodontic instrument. The device has a first sensor (8) and a control unit (2). The control unit (2) has a drive unit (4), a second sensor (6) and a processing unit (3). The processing unit (3) is configured to cause the endodontic instrument (7) to perform a sequence of movements (M1, M2). The sequence of movements (M1, M2) includes a continuous forward movement (M1) and at least one alternating movement (M2). The sequence may include an additional alternating movement (M3) and/or a reverse movement (M4). The number and order of movements to be performed in a sequence depends on a set of predefined threshold values reflecting the torque load applied to the instrument, as measured by one of the sensors.
