Disclosed is a cartridge for storing pressurized gas, including a main body with an internal volume for storing a gaseous mixture NO/N.sub.2, and a distribution valve for controlling the output of the gas. The internal volume of the main body is less than 1000 ml. The concentration of NO in the gaseous mixture NO/N.sub.2 is between 15000 and 25000 ppmv. The gas pressure in the internal volume is below 15 bar, measured at 23° C. Installation for delivering gas to a patient, including such a gas cartridge, a NO supply device fed by the gas cartridge, and a medical ventilator feeding a patient circuit which has an inhalation branch fed by the NO supply device. Use for treating patients suffering from pulmonary hypertension or hypoxia.

Systems, products, compounds and methods can be applied and/or used by a person to facilitate and promote the production of nitric oxide to be used by a person for health benefits. The systems, products, and devices include a nitric oxide nasal delivery system. The system can comprise one or more containers for compounds that when mixed are adapted to produce nitric oxide gas, at least one container with a nitrite compound and at least one container with an acid compound. Containers can be ruptured so that the compounds may be mixed and produce nitric oxide gas. The nitric oxide gas may then be delivered to a user via one or more of the nasal cavities and/or mouth.

A therapeutic gas source and cart and methods thereof for use with a therapeutic gas delivery system is disclosed. The therapeutic gas source may include a cylinder operable to contain a therapeutic gas that includes a body and a gas source valve body. In some examples, the gas source valve body has a valve and a coupling member.

A nitric oxide delivery system, which includes a gas bottle having nitrogen dioxide in air, converts nitrogen dioxide to nitric oxide and employs a surface-active material, such as silica gel, coated with an aqueous solution of antioxidant, such as ascorbic acid. A nitric oxide delivery system may be used to generate therapeutic gas including nitric oxide for use in delivering the therapeutic gas to a mammal.

Disclosed is an NO delivery device for supplying an NO-containing gas, including an NO injection line, a flow rate measurement device and a valve device. The valve device is normally closed. An emergency line connected to the injection line includes an emergency solenoid valve, which is normally open, and a flow rate control device. An operating unit operates these elements. In the event of malfunction of the operating unit, the emergency solenoid valve passes to an open position, whilst the valve device passes to a closed position. The flow rate control device supplies the gas at a pre-fixed emergency flow rate of gas, determined on the basis of the gas flow rate measurements supplied by the flow rate measurement device during the normal functioning of the device prior to the malfunction. A method of treating a human subject which is effected by inhalation of gaseous nitric oxide, the method comprising a first treatment period comprising administering gNO by inhalation over a period of about at least 5 days, wherein the first treatment period is followed by a second treatment period comprising administering gNO by inhalation over a period of at least 3 months. The method can be utilized for treating a human subject suffering from, or prone to suffer from, a disease or disorder that is manifested in the respiratory tract, or from a disease or disorder that can be treated via the respiratory tract.
