Low power frequency synthesizing apparatus

A technology related to an electronic circuit, specifically, a phase locked loop or a frequency synthesizing apparatus, is disclosed. The frequency synthesizing apparatus includes an injection locked frequency divider and a replica frequency divider having the same circuit configuration as the injection locked frequency divider. A control value required for self-oscillating at a target frequency using the replica frequency divider is determined. When the injection locked frequency divider fails injection locking on a first attempt, the injection locking may be attempted using the determined control value. On the first attempt, the control value of the injection locked frequency divider may be determined and stored in advance according to a temperature and a supply voltage.

Circuits and methods for multi-phase clock generators and phase interpolators are provided. The multi-phase clock generators include a delay line and multi-phase injection locked oscillator. At each stage of the multi-phase injection locked oscillator, injection currents are provided from a corresponding stage of the delay line. Outputs of the multi-phase injection locked oscillator and provided to mixers which produce inputs to an operational transconductance amplifier which provides feedback to the delay line and the multi-phase injection locked oscillator. The phase interpolator uses a technique of flipping certain input clock signals to reduce the number of components required while still being able to interpolate phase over 360 degrees and to reduce noise.

Oscillating signal generator and filter circuit

A filtering circuit includes a filter, a frequency divider, and a control circuit. The filter is configured to generate a first oscillating signal according to a control signal in a first mode, and perform a filtering process according to the control signal in a second mode. A frequency of the first oscillating signal is determined according to the control signal. The frequency divider is coupled to the filter and configured to divide the frequency of the first oscillating signal to generate a frequency-divided signal. The control circuit is coupled to the filter and the frequency divider, and configured to compare a frequency of the frequency-divided signal and a frequency of a second oscillating signal so as to adjust the control signal in the first mode. All-to-All Connected Oscillator Networks for Solving Combinatorial Optimization Problems

An analog computing system with coupled non-linear oscillators can solve complex combinatorial optimization problems using the weighted Ising model. The system is composed of a fully-connected LC oscillator network with low-cost electronic components and compatible with traditional integrated circuit technologies. Each LC oscillator, or node, in the network can be coupled to each other node in the array with a multiply and accumulate crossbar array or optical interconnects. When implemented with four nodes, the system performs with single-run ground state accuracies of 98% on randomized MAX-CUT problem sets with binary weights and 84% with five-bit weight resolutions. The four-node system can obtain solutions within five oscillator cycles with a time-to-solution that scales directly with oscillator frequency. A scaling analysis suggests that larger coupled oscillator networks may be used to solve computationally intensive problems faster and more efficiently than conventional algorithms.

Coupled frequency doubler with frequency tracking loop

A frequency doubler (tripler, or quadrupler) employs current re-use coupled oscillator technique to enhance phase noise without increasing current consumption. Frequency doubler uses coupling between two oscillators running at different frequencies; a first oscillator is running at the target frequency and a second oscillator is running at half the frequency. The coupling between the two oscillators is via a transformer having a primary transformer coil and a secondary transformer coil. The first oscillator comprises a differential inductor, coarse/fine tuning capacitor arrays, and an n-type trans-conductor (GM). A virtual ground node of the n-type GM is coupled to one side of the primary transformer coil and the other side of the primary coil is coupled to the center tap of the secondary coil. The second oscillator comprises the secondary coil, coarse/fine tuning capacitor arrays, n-type GM, frequency tracking loop (FTL) and 2.sup.nd-harmonic LC filter network.
