Quadrature oscillator

A quadrature oscillator according to the embodiments herein comprising two pairs of main transistors, two pairs of resonators and two pairs of injection transistors. The quadrature oscillator is split into two halves, which are separated in the chip layout. That is the two pairs of resonators are separated from each other, and the two pairs of the main transistors are separated from the resonator they coupled to such that the quadrature oscillator is separated into two spaced apart oscillator halves connected by transmission lines.

Embodiments provide a device that includes a first circuit having a first input to receive a first sine wave signal and a second input to receive a second sine wave signal in quadrature with respect to each other and a current mode logic gate having a first input coupled to a first output of the first circuit and a second input coupled to a second output of the first circuit. The first circuit configured to deliver a first square wave signal and a second square wave signal. The current mode logic gate is configured to deliver a third square wave signal at a first level and a fourth square wave signal at a second level when the first and second square wave signals are simultaneously at their first levels and the first square wave signal is ahead of the second square wave signal.

Quadrature oscillator

The present description concerns a device comprising two oscillators coupled to each other so as to operate in quadrature, each oscillator comprising an inductor and a capacitive element having a value selectable from among at least two values, each corresponding to an operating frequency value of the oscillators, each oscillator being configured so that, for each operating frequency value of the oscillators, the quality factor of its inductor is lower than the quality factor of its capacitive element.
