An actuator apparatus is provided. The actuator apparatus includes a slidable plunger with a remote end located proximate a reservoir within a vessel having an exit opening, a shape memory alloy (SMA) coil wound around the slidable plunger, and electronic circuitry connected to the SMA coil. Liquid may be provided to the reservoir via the exit opening, thereby sliding the slidable plunger away from the exit opening and expanding the SMA coil. Wherein when the SMA coil is expanded, electricity is provided via the electronic circuitry to the SMA coil to cause the SMA coil to return to a compressed configuration, moving slidable plunger within the vessel to force the liquid from the vessel via the exit opening.

The present invention provides a catheter capable of preventing guide wire retention comprising a catheter body and a guide wire. The guide wire is made of a magnetic material or provided with a magnetic element and is configured to be inserted through the catheter body; wherein the catheter body is provided with at least one detachable magnetic attraction mechanism for attracting the guide wire and thereby holding the guide wire in position after the guide wire is inserted through the catheter body.

Implantable internal drainage device and system for edemas

The invention relates to a medical fluid drainage device for drainage of edematous tissues comprising at least one pumping element (1, 23, 33), having an inlet and an outlet, at least one outlet member (2) having at least one lumen, connected directly or indirectly to the outlet of said pumping element and connecting said pumping element to a body cavity or to a vessel or to a subcutaneous area, and at least one inlet member (3) connected to said inlet of said pumping element and providing fluidic connection between said edematous tissue and said pumping element, and characterized in that the inlet member comprises at least two inlet lumens (4, 5, 6) connected in parallel to said inlet of said pumping element, each of said lumens (4, 5, 6) contains at least one fluid access region, wherein each fluid access region (8, 9, 10) being adapted to allow simultaneous edematous fluid entry from distinct regions of said edematous tissue.

High frequency oscillator ventilator

Provided is a high frequency oscillating ventilator comprising a housing assembly, a linear actuator, a linear coil, a piston mounted on a pushrod, a diaphragm dividing a housing into a first and second side and having an opening formed on the second side that is fluidly connected to the patient's airway for delivering gas thereto. The linear actuator is fixedly mounted to the housing assembly and has a linear coil coaxially disposed therewithin. A pushrod supports the linear coil on the linear actuator to allow relative axially sliding therebetween. The piston is directly mounted to the diaphragm such that reciprocation thereof as effectuated by the linear coil cooperating with the linear actuator alternately produces positive and negative pressure waves in the gas in the patient's airway.
