Incentive Spirometer Cap
An incentive spirometer medical device having a mouth piece protected by an enclosure when not in use and being able to be operated by one hand to open to access the mouth piece.
Method and system for therapeutic use of ultra-violet light
In one aspect, the present invention relates to a wound care system. The wound care system includes a power unit and a processor coupled to the power unit. An ultra-violet light-emitting diode array is electrically coupled to the processor. A thermoelectric element is thermally exposed to the ultra-violet light-emitting diode array. A probe is optically coupled to the ultra-violet light-emitting diode array. The thermoelectric element cools the ultra-violet light emitting diode array thereby optimizing the ultra-violet light emitting diode array.
DEVICE FOR DISINFECTING CPAP COMPONENTS AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
This disclosure relates to a device for disinfecting CPAP components and a method of using the same. An example device includes a chamber, an ultraviolet (UV) light configured to emit UV light within the chamber, and a control unit configured to activate the UV light for a period of time.
TOPICAL MEDICATION FOR SCALP
A composition for treating a hair-growing surface from which hair follicles extend, the composition comprising an opaque material having sufficient shape and stability for covering the hair-growing surface, the opaque material including a medicament for promoting hair growth.
Apparatus for Improving Experience of Breastfeeding
The photo therapy apparatus of the present invention comprises one or more light sources which are integrated with a breast pump for providing photo therapy treatment to the breast and nipple of women during pumping of breast milk. The light sources can be lasers, light emitting diodes (LEDs), lamps, or any other types of light sources which produce therapeutic light in a desired wavelength range. The therapeutic light is delivered through the breast-shield or flange of the breast pump to the breast and nipple and produces a variety of photochemical processes, e.g. increase of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), triggering of photo neurological response and activation of enzymes, changes in local pressure, increases in temperature, and deformation of cellular membranes. Such photochemical reaction helps to reduce pain and promote healing of nipple lesion and in the meantime enhance yield of breast milk.
ULTRAVIOLET SLEEVES FOR PERCUTANEOUS DEVICES AND METHODS FOR USING AND/OR PROVIDING THE SAME
An exemplary ultraviolet (UV) arrangement, can be provided, which can include, for example, a lumen structured to be inserted into a body of a patient and pass a percutaneous structure therethrough into the body of the patient, wherein the lumen can be configured to disperse or provide a UV radiation, and an optical arrangement coupled to the lumen, and configured to generate the UV radiation, and provide the UV radiation to the lumen to be dispersed or provided by the lumen. The lumen can include a weave of a plurality of strands. The optical arrangement can include an optical fiber(s) coupled to the lumen at one of the strands. The optical arrangement can include a plurality of optical fibers coupled to the lumen, where the optical arrangement can include a plurality of diffusing rings, and wherein each ring can be connected to one of the optical fibers.
System and method for detecting minimum hematocrit with irradiation receivers during extracorporeal photopheresis
An irradiation device for photopheresis, comprising an exposure chamber configured to receive an illumination container holding a target cell suspension, an irradiation transmitter configured to irradiate the illumination container and target cell suspension, an irradiation receiver configured to detect absorption of radiation from the irradiation transmitter, and a processing circuit coupled to the irradiation receiver and configured to determine whether a hematocrit of the target cell suspension exceeds a predetermined threshold hematocrit and to treat the target cell suspension with a treatment dosage of radiation if the predetermined threshold is exceeded.
Polychromatic phototherapy device and method
A polychromatic phototherapy device for blood treatment including a casing having a triple quartz tube cuvette assembly removably installed in the casing, with blood to be treated passing through the cuvette. A plurality of light sources are mounted in the casing adjacent the cuvette to project focused light onto the blood flowing through the cuvette. The light sources include a dual wavelength UVA light source, a UVC light source, and dual wavelength red, an amber, a green and a blue LED light sources. Each of the LED light sources includes a lens assembly that projects a concentrated, highly focused linear light beam on one of the quartz tubes of the cuvette through which the blood is flowing. Once blood has been withdrawn from a patient and treated in the polychromatic phototherapy device, the blood is reinfused back into the patient.
Antimicrobial light-emitting percutaneous site dressing
An antimicrobial light dressing device, system and method for a percutaneous treatment that bathes a treatment region around the percutaneous insertion with an antibacterial illumination source for preventing pathogens around the insertion from entering via the dermal puncture created by the insertion. The antimicrobial light dressing device combines a circumferential body centered around the insertion, and an arrangement of LEDs around the body that focus the light around the insertion and onto a therapeutic region of the insertion. An opening in the circumferential body has an articulated protrusion for offsetting a medicinal vessel such as an IV tube off the skin surface to avoid blocking light to an area under the vessel.
Blood bag system and process for the inactivation of pathogens in platelet concentrates by use of the blood bag system
The present invention relates to a blood bag system, a method for its manufacture, and a process for reducing pathogens and leucocytes in biological fluids in particular in therapeutic quantities of platelet concentrates (PC) contained in the blood bag system, using UV-light and agitation, wherein part of the plasma of the PC is optionally exchanged against a platelet additive solution.
