Methods and apparatus for translating a continuous-deliver delivery profile into a plurality of periodic bolus deliveries
Methods and apparatus for translating a continuous-delivery delivery profile into a plurality of periodic bolus deliveries.
PRESSURE SENSING EXTRACORPOREAL CIRCULATION DEVICE
An extracorporeal blood circulation system reduces the risk of generation of air bubbles entering the circulation circuit associated with placement of a pressure sensor that detects a patient's blood pressure at a blood removal line. Instead of directly measuring pressure at the blood removal line where suction exists, an intermediate part pressure sensor detects pressure between a centrifugal pump and an oxygenator. A controller identifies a discharge pressure specific to the centrifugal pump based on a rotation speed of the pump and a blood flow rate. The discharge pressure and the intermediate pressure values are combined to estimate the pressure at the blood removal line.
Pressure-operated switch
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for regulating the delivery of negative-pressure therapy are described. The system includes a negative-pressure source, an energy source, and a switch. The switch can include a first conductor electrically coupled to the negative-pressure source, a second conductor electrically coupled to the energy source, and a diaphragm having a first position electrically coupling the first conductor to the second conductor and a second position separated from the first conductor and the second conductor. The diaphragm is configured to move between the first position and the second position in response to a differential between a control pressure and a therapy pressure.
Waste Collection Unit Including A Reservoir Supported On A Portable Cart For Storing Liquid When Positioned Away From A Docking Station
A waste collection unit for collecting waste material. A reservoir is supported on a portable cart for storing a liquid on the portable cart when positioned away from a docking station. A sprinkler may be coupled to the waste container and in fluid communication with the reservoir. The sprinkler is configured to direct the liquid from the reservoir towards the waste container. The reservoir is configured to receive additional liquid from the docking station to urge the liquid from the reservoir towards the sprinkler. A prefill pump may be supported on the portable cart and in fluid communication with the waste container and operable to convey the liquid from the reservoir to the waste container. A controller may be in electronic communication with a valve assembly to control flow of the liquid from the docking station into at least one of the reservoir and a second waste container.
Dialysis Systems, Devices, and Methods
A treatment device system includes a treatment machine for generating custom peritoneal dialysis solution and including at least one fluid conveyor, the treatment machine having a controller, the controller having a first memory, configured to produce a therapeutic fluid by causing the at least one fluid conveyor to mix purified water and at least one concentrate. The system also includes a user interface and a water purifier in fluid communication with and providing the purified water to the treatment machine, the water purifier including internal central controller, the internal central controller having a second memory, to control preparation of the purified water. A server is communicatively coupled with the treatment machine and a control line provides two way communication between the controller of the treatment machine and the internal central controller of the water purifier.
Portable System for the Production of Oxygen
A portable oxygen generating system is provided that comprises a reaction chamber, a feed system for providing and controlling hydrogen peroxide solution to the reaction chamber, and a cooling/condensing system for cooling the hot oxygen and water vapor leaving the reactor and condensing and removing water. The portable chemical oxygen generation system produces humidified, breathable oxygen, that is substantially free of hydrogen peroxide and other contaminants, at a controlled flow and temperature over an extended period of time.
Neonatal and Pediatric Blood Filtration System
A blood filtration system may to couple to an infusion pump that is external to the blood filtration system. The blood filtration system may include a blood circuit, for instance a variable-volume blood circuit. An infusion port may be in communication with the blood circuit and may receive an infusion fluid pumped by the infusion pump. A filtration pump may extract a filtrate fluid from a filter. The filtrate fluid may include filtered plasma constituents. A fluid characteristic sensor may measure one or more of pressure or flow rate of the infusion fluid pumped by the infusion pump. A controller may monitor the fluid characteristic sensor to determine a change in the pressure or flow rate of the infusion fluid. The controller may modulate a speed of the variable-speed filtration pump based on the change in the pressure or flow rate of the infusion fluid.
EFFLUENT SAMPLES FROM THE LARGE INTESTINE, INCLUDING THE ACENDING PART, AND RELATED DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosis and possibly treatment of the large intestine, using samples from at least three portions of the large intestine, including sampling the ascending proximal portion thereof. Samples from the ascending portions of the large intestine were found to differ in their microbial characteristics significantly from prior art stool samples and from samples taken from the descending and transverse parts of the large intestine—enabling more accurate diagnosis and possibly more effective treatment of diseases of the large intestine.
Dual pressure sensor continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy
A continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) apparatus for respiratory assistance of a patient is disclosed. There is a blower having an output connectible to a ventilation mask wearable by the patient. A first pressure sensor measures blower pressure at the output of the blower, and a second pressure sensor that is connectible to the ventilation mask measures mask pressure therein. A pressure controller is connected to the first pressure sensor and the second pressure sensor, and a patient inspiratory phase and a patient expiratory phase is be detectable by the pressure controller to regulate therapeutic airflow delivered to the patient based upon pressure differentials between the mask pressure and the blower pressure.
INFUSION PUMP SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADMINISTRATION SETS
An LVP that provides peristaltic pumping to removably couplable administration set tubing assemblies supplying medical infusate. The LVP includes a housing, a drive-train assembly, and a controller. The housing includes an assembly receptacle configured to receive an administration set tubing assembly. The drive-train assembly provides mechanical peristaltic movement within the assembly receptacle. The drive-train assembly includes a stepper motor located within the housing and a camshaft assembly, driven by the stepper motor and at least partially extending into the assembly receptacle. The camshaft assembly includes a unitary camshaft and a plurality of tube engaging members that cooperatively move according to rotation of the unitary camshaft. Further, the controller is located within the housing that controls operation of the stepper motor and the camshaft assembly.
