SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING A FLUID PROCEDURE
A computer-implemented method comprises providing a fluid circuit comprising fluid pathways configured to mount and associate with a durable processing device comprising a pressure sensor in communication with a controller and a fluid pathway. A container is connected to the pressure sensor and may receive a volume of fluid. A change in pressure values between a first and second time is measured from when the volume of fluid is not in communication with the pressure sensor to when the volume of fluid is in communication with the pressure sensor, the volume of fluid within the container or a presence or absence of a fluid connection to the fluid pathway based on the change in pressure values is determined, and a response action is executed if the volume of fluid within the container is not within an authorized volume range for the time period, or if a fluid connection is unauthorized.
Mobile selection system and treatment carriage
The invention relates to a mobile selection system for selecting medical accessories comprising a control system, a user interface and a treatment cart. The treatment cart comprises a plurality of storage devices each having at least two storage areas for a respective accessory type. The control system thereby implements a selection method having the following method steps. The treatment identifier of the treatment to be performed is determined in one method step via the user interface. In a further method step, a plurality of accessory set parameters which characterize a medical accessory set are determined on the basis of an accessory database and on the basis of the treatment identifier of the treatment to be performed. The treatment cart comprises a release mechanism, wherein the control system is designed to control the release mechanism so as to release those medical accessories for which at least one of the storage devices comprises storage area for their accessory types and which are characterized by the accessory set parameters on which the control is based.
Fluid removal management and control of wound closure in wound therapy
Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems and methods for operating the systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, a negative pressure wound therapy apparatus can include a wound dressing, a negative pressure source, and a controller. The negative pressure source can provide negative pressure via a fluid flow path to the wound dressing. The controller can monitor a rate of fluid removal from the wound, wirelessly communicate the rate of fluid removal to a remote device, and output an indication when the rate of fluid removal meets a threshold.
System and method for continuous flow red blood cell washing
A method for continuously washing packed red blood cells includes (1) transferring, at a first flow rate, packed red blood cells from a container to a separation device and (2) transferring, at the same time as the packed red blood cells, wash solution from a container to the separation device. The wash solution may be transferred at a second flow rate that is greater than the first flow rate. The wash solution mixes with the packed red blood cells within the inlet line of the separation device and dilutes/washes the packed red blood cells. The separation device separates the red blood cells from the wash solution and a supernatant. The method may then monitor the volume of washed red blood cells within the separation device and begin to extract the washed red blood cells into a red blood cell product container when a target volume is collected within the separation device.
ACCURATE IRRIGATION RATE MEASURMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
In one embodiment, an irrigated medical system includes a medical tool, an irrigation line configured to fluidically connect an irrigation reservoir storing irrigation fluid to the medical tool, and provide at least some of the irrigation fluid to the medical tool, a force sensor configured to be coupled with the irrigation reservoir, and provide a signal responsively to a force exerted by the irrigation reservoir on the force sensor over time as irrigation fluid in the irrigation reservoir is depleted, and a controller configured to find an irrigation rate of the irrigation fluid flowing in the irrigation line responsively to the signal.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING WHOLE BLOOD INTO RED BLOOD CELL, PLASMA, AND PLATELET PRODUCTS
A processing device includes a pump system, a valve system, a centrifuge, and a controller. A fluid flow circuit is mounted to the device to execute a procedure in which whole blood is processed into a red blood cell product, a plasma product, and a platelet concentrate product. The blood is first separated into red blood cells, buffy coat, and plasma using the centrifuge, with the red blood cells and plasma being removed from the centrifuge, while the buffy coat remains in the centrifuge. The fluid remaining in the centrifuge is circulated through the centrifuge to form a homogenous mixture. Once the mixture is formed, it is separated in the centrifuge into platelet concentrate and red blood cells. A platelet product is then collected by using whole blood or previously collected red blood cells to push the platelet concentrate from the centrifuge to a collection container.
Apparatus, system and method for fluid delivery
A fill adapter system for an infusion pump assembly. The system includes a reusable fill adapter base, the base including a volume control mechanism to adjust an available fill volume of a reservoir of the infusion pump assembly and a pump mechanism configured to pump air into a fluid vial. The system also includes a vial adapter assembly including a first needle configured to penetrate a septum of the fluid vial for fluidly coupling the pump mechanism to the fluid vial and a second needle having a first end configured to penetrate the septum of the fluid vial and a second end configured to penetrate a septum of the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly to allow transfer of fluid from the fluid vial to the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly in response to air being pumped into the fluid vial and a needle carriage adapted to carry the first needle and the second needle, wherein the needle carriage slidably attached to the interior of the vial adapter assembly, wherein the needle carriage adapted to slide from a vial end of the vial adapter to a receptacle end of the vial adapter.
Signal Activated Method for Draining an Effluent Bag and Devices
The present disclosure relates to a control device or closed-loop control device, programmed to control or regulate a blood treatment apparatus during a treatment of a patient's blood carried out in a treatment session using an extracorporeal blood tubing set and the blood treatment apparatus while balancing liquid flows and conveying via different liquid pumps. The control device or closed-loop control device is further programmed to interrupt the balancing and/or the liquid flows at one or more predetermined interruption time points which lie within the duration of the treatment session.
Blood treatment device with improved bag weight monitoring
A blood treatment device includes an extracorporeal blood circuit, dialyzer and dialysis fluid circuit. The blood circuit and dialysis fluid circuit are separated from each other by a membrane in the dialyzer. A weighing device measures and monitors the weight of a bag containing a fluid. A fluid pump pumps fluid out of and into the bag. A control unit interrupts fluid supply by stopping the pump when a weight variation of the bag occurs and temporarily maintains the interruption at least until the malfunction disappears, and automatically restarts the fluid supply if the bag or the weight of the bag stabilizes within a predetermined time and the weight variation does not exceed a predetermined value. The control unit generates an alarm if the bag or weight of the bag does not stabilize within a predetermined time and/or if the weight variation exceeds a predetermined value.
SELF-ADJUSTING IV STAND
IV stand assemblies are provided that include a base, a stand, a platform and a motorized pole assembly having a housing, a pole and a drive. The drive moves the pole to extend and retract the pole relative to the housing. A weight measurement assembly measures weight of a fluid within a fluid container hanging from the IV stand assembly. IV stand assemblies with a pulley/belt assembly and methods of operating IV assemblies are also provided.
