Systems and methods for priming a fluid circuit
Methods and systems for priming a disposable fluid circuit for the processing of a biological fluid are disclosed. The methods and systems allow for variable and configurable priming of the flow path(s) leading to one or more biological fluid source containers.
Systems or apparatuses and methods for performing dialysis
The invention provides a method and an apparatus or system for dialysis. The method and apparatus or system are useful for removing an undesirable protein-binding substance such as a toxin from a biological fluid such as blood or blood plasma. As such, the method and apparatus or system are useful for treating a subject in need of dialysis such as a subject suffering from hepatic disease. The methods feature a) dialyzing a biological fluid against a dialysis fluid containing an adsorber for a protein-binding substance to be removed through a semipermeable membrane, b) adjusting the dialysis fluid so that the binding affinity of the adsorber for the protein-bound substance to be removed is lowered and the substance to be removed passes into solution, and c) balancing the volume or flow of one or more fluids in the apparatus or system suitable for dialyzing a biological fluid containing a protein-binding substance to be removed. The apparatus or system features a) a biological fluid circuit (3); b) a dialysis fluid circuit (2); c) a means (4; 6; 7; 8; 9) for solubilizing the protein-binding substance to be removed; d) a dialysis, filtration or diafiltration device (5); e) a balancing system or apparatus suitable for balancing the volume or flow of one or more fluids in the apparatus or system suitable for dialyzing a biological fluid containing a protein-binding substance to be removed; and f) a dialysate regeneration unit.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMIZATION OF PLASMA COLLECTION VOLUMES
A system for collecting plasma comprises a separator to separate whole blood from a donor into a plasma product and a second blood component, an anticoagulant line to combine anticoagulant with the whole blood, a touchscreen, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive donor parameters electronically from a donor management system. The controller is configured to use a target volume for raw plasma which is based at least in part on donor height and weight used to calculate total donor blood volume, the target volume for raw plasma based on the total donor blood volume. The controller is configured to control the system to operate draw and return phases to withdraw whole blood from a donor and return the second blood component to the donor until a volume of raw plasma in the collection container equals the target volume of raw plasma.
MEDICAL DEVICE AND MEDICAL DEVICE SYSTEM
A medical device, a medical device system and a monitor are provided. The medical device is provided with an audio acquisition apparatus and a processor. A user can operate, by means of a voice, the medical device to execute a medical process including several medical actions. Specifically, the user inputs a voice signal carrying a medical process instruction to the medical device. After acquiring the voice signal, the audio acquisition apparatus sends the voice signal to the processor, the processor determines the corresponding medical actions for the medical process instruction in the voice signal according to a preset correspondence between the medical process instruction and the medical actions, and controls execution of the medical actions. Hence, the user can operate the medical device by using the voice, without manually performing a contact operation, so that the operating method is more efficient and convenient.
Dialysis solution waste minimization systems and methods
Dialysis machines and methods for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) may include delivering dialysate to a patient and detecting a temperature of a volume of the dialysate, an air content of the dialysate volume, or another condition, or combinations thereof, wherein the detected temperature of the dialysate volume is compared to a predetermined maximum temperature, the detected air content of the dialysate volume is compared to a predetermined maximum air content and the detected other condition generates a signal. The volume of dialysate may be diverted in response to the detected temperature exceeding the predetermined maximum temperature, the air content exceeding the predetermined maximum air content, or the other condition generated signal, or combinations thereof.
Apparatus, Systems And Methods For Storing, Treating And/Or Processing Blood And Blood Components
Apparatus, systems and methods are disclosed relating to certain aspects of blood processing, collecting or storing, including method and system for automated authentication, processing device with scanner, blood container with two dimensional barcode, blood collection containers, blood container label and related tracking method, integrated container system, and processing device with sterile connection device.
Extracorporeal blood treatment flow rate adjustment
Extracorporeal blood treatment systems and methods to display graphical user interfaces displaying a plurality of fluids areas, each including a flow rate, and displaying adjustment notifications proximate one or more fluid areas. For example, when a user adjusts a flow rate to a limit, one or more notifications may be displayed proximate other flow rates that may be adjusted to modify the limit.
Automatic dialysate detection in dialysis machines
A method for operating a dialysis machine to conduct a dialysis treatment on a patient (e.g., a peritoneal dialysis machine) may include transferring dialysate from a first bag, and automatically determining the dialysate from the first bag has completely transferred. After determining the dialysate has completely transferred from the first bag, switching from the first bag to a second bag of dialysate. The method may further include transferring dialysate from the second bag in response to the detection of the completed transfer of the first bag, and automatically determining the dialysate from the second bag has completely transferred. The method may further include determining if the respective first or second bag has completely transferred by comparing a dialysate bag volume transferred to the patient to a detected volume of the respective first or second bag. Systems with dialysis machines for performing such a method are disclosed as well.
