Non-invasive analyte sensor and automated response system
Analyte sensing and response systems include a sensor detecting one or more analytes in a medium. The sensor uses decoupled transmit and receive elements or antennas to transmit a signal into the medium, and receive a response to the transmitted signal. An action that is based on the detection of the analyte is generated which can directly or indirectly affect the detected analyte in the medium. The action is automatically performed. The action can be increasing or decreasing flow from a source of the analyte, or of a chemical compound interacting with the analyte. An example of the action is controlling an insulin pump, where the analyte is glucose.
Injected conductive tattoos for powering implants
The present disclosure describes aspects of injected conductive tattoos for powering implants. In some aspects, a system comprises a conductive tattoo used to efficiently transfer power wirelessly received from a transmitter outside a body to an electronic device in the body. The conductive tattoo is formed from a conductive material injected into an outermost permanent layer of the body. The conductive tattoo is configured to wirelessly receive and relay the power from the transmitter to the electronic device. In particular, the conductive tattoo may transfer the power to the electronic device over a coupling between the conductive tattoo and the electronic device.
Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
Fill stations and base stations are provided for personal pump systems. The fill stations may be opened and closed to accept a reservoir and to allow fluid to be introduced into the reservoir for use with personal pump systems. The fill stations may hold the reservoir at a tilt relative to an underlying surface and may discourage overfilling of the reservoir. The filling stations may also include viewing windows having fluid lines marked thereon for indicating volume of fluid within the reservoir.
Adhesive and peripheral systems and methods for medical devices
A system is disclosed. The system includes a reservoir for containing a fluidic medium, the reservoir including a front surface, a resilient cylindrical flexure portion connected to the front surface, the resilient cylindrical flexure portion comprising an accordion-like structure that is able to expand and contract to change an interior volume within the resilient cylindrical flexure portion, a central passageway within the resilient cylindrical flexure, and a collection chamber connected to the central passageway. Also, a system including a reservoir, a plunger head located within the reservoir, a plunger arm connected to the plunger head, a driving shaft connected to the plunger arm, and a motor connected to the driving shaft, the motor controllable to move the drive shaft in a first motion and a second motion so as to move the advance plunger head and retract the plunger head within the reservoir.
SYSTEM FOR SYNCHRONIZING BREAST PUMPING WITH INFANT FEEDING
A system embodied in an article of clothing for synchronizing one or more breast-pumping sessions of an individual (such as a mother) and milk consumption by a second individual (such as a baby or infant) is described. In particular, based on measurements of a volume of the collected milk as a function of time and received information specifying milk consumption by the second individual as a function of time, a control circuit may determine a need for milk. Then, the control circuit may provide feedback based on the determined need for milk that synchronizes the one or more breast-pumping sessions and the milk consumption. For example, the feedback may alert the individual to initiate a breast-pumping session and/or may provide a signal to a breast pump that initiates a breast-pumping session.
Implantable device for internal urinary control
The present invention relates to a method for implanting an implantable apparatus for obtaining urinary control and emptying of the urinary bladder, thereby preventing from or treating involuntary urinary retention. In general terms, the apparatus comprises an expandable member adapted to be implanted inside the urinary bladder of the patient for discharging urine, and a control device for controlling the volume of the expandable member. The control device is adapted to be connected to the expandable member through the wall of the urinary bladder.
Device For Detecting A Malfunctioning Of A Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt For Cerebrospinal Fluid
The invention relates to a device for detecting a malfunctioning of a valve/catheters assembly for shunting a cerebrospinal fluid or the like, characterized in that it comprises: a chamber (6) which is placed inside the said housing; a laminar canal (4), a sensor (7) for measuring a pressure in the said chamber; a flexible membrane (5) separating the sensor from the chamber (6); control and communications electronics (8,9) able to exchange with an external reader in order to transmit a measurement by the said sensor, the sensor (7) being attached to the flexible membrane (5) with which it is in contact.
Implantable drainage device
An implantable drainage device is provided. The device is adapted to move body fluid from one part of the body of a patient to another part of the body.

Implantable heart pump controller
The present invention provides devices, systems, and methods for control of and communication with ventricular assist devices. In certain embodiments, the invention includes an implantable controller that is operatively programmed to direct physiological flow through a ventricular assist device that can be substantially synchronized to the cardiac cycle of the subject. In certain embodiments, the implantable controller is also communicatively connected to an external control unit, such that the implantable controller can transmit data to the external control unit, and instructions can be sent from the external control unit to the implantable controller. In certain embodiments, a system and method for secure communication between a remote device and the implanted ventricular assist device is provided.
