20180126071 · 2018-05-10 ·

A penis erection stimulation system comprising a fully implantable drug delivery device for delivering a drug in relation to a penis to achieve erection of the penis.

Method of removing fluid from the body, and device therefore

A method for removing bodily fluid includes drawing bodily fluid that has accumulated in excess, converting the drawn fluid from bulk liquid form to aerosol form, and disposing of the aerosol via evaporation of liquid droplets and absorption and/or diffusion of vapor. Conversion from bulk liquid to aerosol may include collecting the bulk liquid fluid in a reservoir, conveying the bulk liquid bodily fluid to an atomizer, converting the bulk liquid fluid into an aerosol having ultrafine droplets, and ejecting the aerosol into a subcutaneous space for disposal via evaporation of liquid droplets and absorption and/or diffusion of vapors. The method may be performed with a subcutaneous atomizer that may be controlled locally or by an external transmitter for effecting a conversion and mist rate to keep pace with the accumulation of excess bodily fluid.

An at least partly implantable system for injecting a substance into a patient's body, in particular a penis erection stimulation system, comprises one or more long, flexibly bendable infusion needles, the tip ends of which are disposed within and implanted along with at least one first housing, in particular adjacent the patient's left and right corpora cavernosa. The respective other end or ends of the infusion needles are disposed and implanted along with at least one second housing remote from the first housing. A reservoir and a pump are also implanted inside the patient's body to supply the infusion needle with infusion liquid. A drive unit also adapted for implantation inside the patient's body is arranged for advancing and retracting the infusion needle such that its tip end penetrates the at least one first housing's outer wall in at least one penetration area, more specifically at least in two different penetration areas either simultaneously or in immediate time succession, thereby injecting the substance into the patient's body.

The drive unit is configured to laterally displace the tip end of at least one infusion needle in at least two different lateral directions to different penetration sites within said at least one penetration area.

Biomedical apparatus for pumping blood of a human or an animal patient through a secondary intra- or extracorporeal blood circuit

A biomedical apparatus for pumping blood of a human or an animal patient through a secondary blood circuit is provided, including a blood pump (10), an inlet duct (11) and an outlet duct (12) for guiding blood of the patient to the blood pump (10) and back to the patient. The device further includes a measuring device (14) for measuring a physical parameter of the heart (2) or of a blood vessel, and a controller (13) for regulating the power of the blood pump (10). The measuring device (14) is adapted to be arranged inside the heart (2) or the blood vessel, and the controller is configured to determine an estimate for an inner volume of the heart (2) or of the blood vessel based on the physical parameter and is configured to regulate the power of the blood pump (10) depending on this estimate.

An at least partly implantable system for injecting a substance into a patient's body, in particular a penis erection stimulation system, comprises an infusion device (11) adapted for implantation inside the patient's body, at least one reservoir (R.sub.1, R.sub.2) adapted for implantation inside the patient's body in fluid connection with the infusion device to supply to the infusion device a substance to be injected into the patient's body, and a cooling device for keeping the content within at least one compartment of the reservoir at a temperature below 37 C. The reservoir preferably comprises at least one first compartment accommodating or adapted to accommodate a first substance and at least one second compartment accommodating or adapted to accommodate a second substance, in particular a drug for stimulating penis erection, wherein the at least one second compartment is cooled by means of the cooling device. As a penis erection stimulation system, the infusion device preferably comprises one or more infusion needles disposed within and implanted along with one or more housings adjacent the patient's left and right corpora cavernosa. A pump may be implanted inside the patient's body to supply the infusion needle with infusion liquid. A drive unit also adapted for implantation inside the patient's body may be arranged for advancing and retracting the tip end of the infusion needle such that it penetrates the housing at least in two different penetration areas either simultaneously or in immediate time succession, thereby injecting drugs along with the infusion liquid into the patient's body for stimulating penis erection.

MEDICAL INJECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATED TO USER ACTIVATED CONTROL DEVICES
20170043081 · 2017-02-16 ·

A control module for a medical injection system generates an injection control signal based on sensed internal pressure of a user activated control device, for example, in response to an applied external force that causes the sensed internal pressure to increase from a baseline pressure, and continues to sense the internal pressure of the device, following release of the applied external force, so that, if the sensed internal pressure drops below the baseline pressure, the control module may generate a notification. Thus, an operator of the system may monitor internal pressure of the control device for a drop below the baseline pressure, and then, if such a drop is detected, inspect the control device for leaks and reconnect, replace or repair the control device, or simply reconnect or replace the control device.
