System and method for enhancing REM sleep with sensory stimulation

The present disclosure pertains to a system and method for automatically detecting rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and delivering sensory stimulation to prolong REM duration, without disturbing sleep. The sensory stimulation may be auditory or other stimulation. The system and method ensure timely delivery of the stimulation and automatically adjust the amount, intensity, and/or timing of stimulation as necessary. REM sleep is detected based on brain activity, cardiac activity and/or other information. REM sleep may be detected and/or predicted by a trained neural network. The amount, timing, and/or intensity of the sensory stimulation may be determined and/or modulated to enhance REM sleep in a subject based on one or more values of one or more intermediate layers of the neural network and one or more brain activity and/or cardiac activity parameters.

The AR headset (2) comprises a camera (6a, 6b), a near eye display (4a, 4b) and a depth sensor (10a, 10b). The processor (12) is configured to adjust the position of the image obtained by the camera (6a, 6b) on the display (4a, 4b) throughout the medical procedure based on changes in the distance measured by the depth sensor (10a, 10b).

SYSTEM FOR EXTENDED REALITY VISUAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving information about a task to be completed by a user, receiving information about the user and receiving information about a physical environment of the user. The subject disclosure may further include creating one or more immersion objects based on the information about the task, the information about the user and the information about the physical environment, creating an immersive environment including the one or more immersive objects and at least a portion of the physical environment of the user, and communicating to an extended reality (XR) device of the user information about the immersive environment to create an immersive experience for completion of the task by the user. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A system includes a mobile device having one or more cameras to take images; a sensor detecting reflected light from one or more lasers and a diffuser to detect object range or dimension; code for motion tracking, environmental understanding by detecting planes in an environment, and estimating light and dimensions of the surrounding based on the one or more lasers; code to estimate a three-dimensional (3D) volume of an object from multiple perspectives and from projected laser beams to measure size or scale and determine locations of points on the object's surface in a plane or a slice using time-of-flight, wherein positions and cross-sections for different slices are correlated to construct a 3D model of the object, including object position and shape; the device receiving user request to select a content from one or more augmented, virtual, or extended reality contents and rendering a reality view of the environment.

WEARABLE DEVICE

A wearable device has a flexible and extendable body configured to encircle a portion of a body of a user, an electronics module with a concave space between two ends, each end attachable to the flexible and extendable body with a flexible retention mount to allow rotation of the flexible and extendable body relative to the electronics module and to transfer tension force from the flexible and extendable body to the electronics module, and a bio-signal sensor disposed on the flexible and extendable body to contact at least part of the body of the user and to receive bio-signals from the user.

Wearable devices with interfering bladders for creating haptic feedback

A wearable device for providing haptic stimulations is provided. The wearable device includes: (i) a wearable structure to be worn on a portion of a user's body and (ii) an inflatable bladder, coupled to the wearable structure, that includes two or more pockets positioned at a target location on the wearable structure. Furthermore, the two or more pockets are configured to, when inflated, impart directional force(s) onto the user at the target location that impede movement of the portion of the user's body. Additionally, the directional force(s) are caused by the two or more pockets interfering with each other, when inflated. In some embodiments, (a) the portion of the user's body is a hand of the user, (b) the target location is a finger joint on the user's hand, and (c) the directional force(s) imparted onto the user at the target location impede flexion of the user's finger.

Stimulating the Hairy Skin Through Ultrasonic Mid-Air Haptic Stimulation

Use of ultrasound beams to unlock the perception of mid-air tactile stimuli on hairy skin by using acoustic streaming is described. Such acoustic streaming is directional, more focused than fan and air-puff devices, doesn't require the use of cumbersome attachments, fast since it can be generated at a distance with the speed of sound, and can be used in a complementary fashion with vibrotactile mid-air stimulation deriving from the same hardware. Further proposed is a way to modulate the thermal perception of the mid-air tactile stimuli without the need for a thermal source or wearables. The effect of acoustic streaming and its thermal modulation may be combined for the accurate elicitation of affective touch sensations.
