An instrument advancement device for advancing an instrument through a vascular access device includes a housing having a distal end and a proximal end, with the distal end configured to couple to a vascular access device, an instrument at least partially received within the housing, with the instrument having an advanced position where a distal end of the instrument extends beyond the distal end of the housing and a retracted position where the distal end of the instrument is received within the housing, an actuator configured to move the instrument between the advanced position and the retracted position, and an indicator configured to be visible only when the instrument is in the advanced position.
Sterilization Arrangement for Drug Delivery Device
A drug delivery system for injecting a medicament includes a housing defining a cavity, a container received within the cavity and configured to receive a medicament, the container comprising a stopper configured to move within the container and a closure, a drive assembly received within the cavity and configured to drive the stopper within the container, a needle actuator assembly received within the cavity and comprising a needle configured to be placed in fluid communication with the container, the needle moveable from a first position and a second position spaced from the first position, and a sterilizer received within the cavity and configured to sterilize at least one of the container, the drive assembly, and the needle actuator assembly upon activation of the drug delivery system.
Color changing and pressure sensing check valves
A check valve includes an upper housing defining an inlet of the check valve, and a lower housing having a seating portion and defining an outlet of the check valve. The check valve further includes a chamber interposed between and defined by the upper and lower housings for fluidly connecting the inlet and the outlet, and a flexible diaphragm mounted in the chamber. The flexible diaphragm selectively permits fluid flow in a first direction, and prevents fluid backflow in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The flexible diaphragm includes a color changing material, and when the flexible diaphragm is seated on the seating portion and bent due to force of the fluid flowing in the first direction, the flexible diaphragm exhibits a color change.
MODULAR ADJUSTABLE STORAGE ORGANIZER
An improved storage organizer (10) having a plurality of vertical modular side panels (30) providing support, adjustability of size, location and storage capacity for a plurality of horizontal, adjustable shelf rails (70), adjustable, extendable, pull-out shelves (20) and encoded labels (25A) enabling identification of stored items within upright freezers and refrigerators in the first embodiment. A user of the organizer (10) can assemble the organizer without tools in the first embodiment to suit various models, dimensions and inner configuration of the storage space and anticipated weight and sizes of items stored on the shelves. A user of the organizer can track quantity and content of stored items by means of encoded labels (25A) inserted in shelf label holders (25) and in or on packages containing stored items, both visually and by means of remote inventory control systems. Thus, a considerably more versatile, durable, modular and efficient storage organizer is provided—that can be adjusted to provide more or less storage capacity in most models of upright freezers and refrigerators in the first embodiment as well as in other cold, heated or room-temperature storage compartments in other embodiments with ease of tracking quantities and locations, viewing, adding, removing, rearranging, identifying and retrieving a variety of stored items.
MICROINFUSER WITH AUTOMATIC NEEDLE RETRACTION
A device for delivering a fluid includes a housing defining an interior space and having a bottom surface configured for contacting a patient. The bottom surface defines a needle opening. The device also includes a reservoir disposed within the interior space of the housing for containing a fluid therein, a needle carrier disposed within the housing, and an injection needle supported by the needle carrier and defining a lumen. The lumen of the injection needle is configured to be placed in fluid communication with the reservoir. The injection needle is transitionable from an initial position in which the injection needle is disposed within the housing, to a use position in which the injection needle extends through the needle opening, and a substantially shielded position in which the injection needle is disposed within the housing and the lumen of the needle is blocked by a portion of the housing.
DIALYSIS SYSTEM HAVING A DIRECTIONAL ALARM SYSTEM
A medical device, such as a dialysis machine, may be equipped with a focused directional speaker system and/or displays to direct audible and visual alarms towards a patient in order to minimize disruption to others caused by an alarm. The speaker system may be useful for home dialysis patients whose alarming devices at night wake up not only their partners but also neighbors, especially when the patient is hard of hearing or a heavy sleeper and needs to set the volume at the loudest setting in order to hear it. Further implementation and safety features may provide that, if the patient still does not awaken after a set amount of time to clear the alarm, then the dialysis device broadcasts the alarm to the entire room.
Injection Device
An injection device is described. The injection device includes a housing, a dose indicator, and a release mechanism. The dose indicator is positioned within the internal space of the housing. The dose indicator includes a number of engaging members at least one thereof being configured to contact multiple of distinct ratchet features in course of a helical or screwing movement in distinct positions, wherein the contact is configured to provide a user with a tactile indexing appearance in the way of an increased or decreased dwelling torque at each of the multiple distinct positions. The release mechanism is connected to the dose indicator. The release mechanism is configured to, when activated during dose dispense, urge the engaging members away from the distant position and against the force of the resilient bias thereby suspending the indexing ratchet appearance at least for a subset of the multiple distinct positions.
NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY SYSTEM
A releasable connector for a negative pressure wound therapy system having a drape and a tube includes a base and a tube fitting. The base is configured to be coupled to the drape such that a substantially air-tight seal is formed between the base and the drape. The base includes a base locking member. The tube fitting is configured to be coupled to the tube such that a substantially air-tight seal is formed between the tube fitting and the tube. The tube fitting includes a tube locking member. The tube fitting is further configured to be selectively coupled to the base through an interaction between the tube locking member and the base locking member such that a substantially air-tight seal is formed between the tube fitting and the base.
Injection Device
An injection device is disclosed wherein a dose can be set by rotating a dose setting member, whereby a push button is elevated from one end of the device a distance proportional to the set dose from a position fixed relative to the housing, and wherein the set dose can then be injected by pressing the push button back to its non-elevated position, through which motion a screw will move approximately the same distance or a smaller distance. The invention provides a method of reducing the dose force and/or the push-button movement during injection.
