Bi-directional motion of a Lorentz-force actuated needle-free injector (NFI)

The present invention relate to a method and corresponding apparatus for just in time mixing of a solid or powdered formulation and its subsequent delivery to a biological body. In some embodiments, a powdered formulation is maintained in a first chamber of a plurality of chambers. A plurality of electromagnetic actuators are in communication with the plurality of chambers. The actuators, when activated, generate a pressure within at least the first chamber. The pressure results in mixing of the powdered formulation and a diluent in time for delivering into the biological body.

Connected injection devices with status sensing systems

An injection device assembly including a housing, a syringe, a drive mechanism and one or more sensing systems are described. The drive mechanism advances the syringe from a storage position to an injection position, and a plunger advances the syringe piston from an initial position to a final position. The status sensing system may include one or more main PCB(s) disposed in an end portion of the injection device assembly's housing. The system may determine various parameters related to an operational status of the injection device, including the location of the device's components, an amount of medication remaining in the device, a temperature of the medication, and whether or not the device is properly contacting the user's skin before injection. The system may communicate such determined parameters to an external device via a wireless communication link.

The present invention refers to a medical device for trans-dermal infusion of a medicament comprising a reservoir for holding a medicament to be infused, a pump for pumping medicament from the reservoir, wherein the device is assembled or adapted to be assembled in at least one pre-operational arrangement with or without the reservoir and is adapted to be rearranged from the at least one pre-operational arrangement into an operational arrangement comprising the reservoir. In particular, in the pre-operational arrangement without reservoir the pump is in a mechanically distressed condition preventing functional operation of the pump, and in the pre-operational arrangement comprising the reservoir the pump is in a mechanically distressed condition preventing functional operation of the pump and/or the reservoir is fluidically disconnected from the pump. In the operational arrangement the pump is in a mechanically stressed condition enabling functional operation of the pump and the reservoir is fluidically connected to the pump.

Cartridge for Auto-Injector Apparatus

A cartridge assembly apparatus for an auto-injector includes a flexible container containing a liquid medicant. A needle hub is connected to the flexible container. A needle is attached to the needle hub and extends proximally from the needle hub. A frame is connected to the needle hub and includes a frame proximal end extending proximally beyond a proximal end of the needle. The needle hub and the needle are displaceable relative to the frame in a proximal direction to insert the needle into a patient.

Various embodiments of a medical device for displacing a bodily fluid inside a patient's body and the related methods are disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, the medical device may include a source heat exchanger containing a heat generating in source and being configured to transfer heat from the heat generating source to a working fluid. The medical device also includes a hollow shaft comprising a plurality of permanent magnets, an impeller shroud disposed inside the hollow shaft, where the impeller shroud defines an internal passageway through which the bodily fluid passes through. The medical device further includes an impeller disposed inside the internal passageway of the impeller shroud, where the impeller is magnetically coupled to the permanent magnets of the hollow shaft. The medical device includes an expander comprising a rotary component mechanically coupled to the hollow shaft, where the expander being driven by the working fluid flowing from the source heat exchanger to rotate the hollow shaft. Rotation of the hollow shaft generates a rotary magnetic field in the hollow shaft to cause the impeller to rotate and displace the bodily fluid flowing through the internal passageway.
