Dental Syringe
20180021541 · 2018-01-25 ·

A device or arrangement for a carpule for a dental syringe permits the harpoon on the distal end of the plunger rod to engage the rubber or rubber-like plug or piston of the carpule, but blocks the piston from being pulled out the open proximal end of the tubular glass body of the carpule. A preferred version has an apertured cap that fits onto the proximal end of the carpule, a retaining neck ring that fits onto the penetrable seal at the proximal end of the carpule, and a bar connecting them. The bar also serves as a grip to assist in handling the carpule.

SELF SHEATHING ANESTHETIC NEEDLE WITH A DEDICATED SYRINGE
20180014996 · 2018-01-18 ·

A self-sheathing injection assembly that includes a sheath protecting the medical professional from accidental punctures from the needle. The sheath is slidable to expose the end of the needle, and the sheath is lockable in the exposed condition with a detent mechanism. The separable needle assembly also includes features that firmly couples a carpule of medicine to the needle assembly, such that upon removal of the needle assembly after use the carpule remains attached to the needle for simultaneous disposal.

A system comprising a handpiece and drive system configured to removably couple to a proximal end of a housing. A scalpet assembly is configured to removeably couple to the housing, and includes a scalpet array comprising at least one scalpet configured for rotation. The scalpet array is configured to harvest dermal plugs via fractional resection. A collection chamber is configured to collect the dermal plugs, and to house formation of an injectable filler by mincing the dermal plugs, and mixing the dermal plugs with a carrier. The injectable filler is configured for bulk fill. The collection chamber includes a loading port, and a cannular syringe is configured to mate with the loading port to receive the injectable filler, and to deliver the injectable filler for the bulk fill.

Negative pressure wound therapy for treatment of periodontal disease
09855123 · 2018-01-02 ·

Disclosed are devices, systems and methods for treating periodontal disease and/or other oral wounds using particularized oral appliances and associated negative pressure systems. The various oral appliances include one or a plurality of surfaces for engagement with various anatomical structures within the oral cavity, where the engagement can include sealing engagement with soft tissue (gingival) surfaces of the upper and/or lower dental arches. Additional features disclosed can further promote healing of regions affected by periodontal pocket formation.

ANESTHESIA APPLICATORS/INJECTORS FOR DENTAL AND OTHER APPLICATIONS AND METHODS OF USE
20170290991 · 2017-10-12 ·

Disclosed are applicators and methods injecting of a liquid anesthetic into a dental patient with no or minimal pain. In accordance with one embodiment the applicator is for intraligamentary injection and includes an elongated, thin member having an open distal free formed of a resilient and somewhat conformable material suitable for producing a substantially fluid-tight interface with the anatomic structures at the gingival sulcus to inject the anesthetic therein. In another embodiment the applicator includes a flexible skirt surrounding a sharpened cannula, with the cannula being movable with respect to the skirt. The skirt is arranged to receive the anesthetic to anesthetize the gum, whereupon the cannula can then pierce the gum to inject the anesthetic into the underlying anatomic structure.

LASER-ASSISTED PERIODONTICS
20170215988 · 2017-08-03 ·

There is a need for a minimally invasive surgical treatment method for periodontitis for the removal of deep pockets, elimination of disease, creation of reattachment of the gingiva to the tooth surface and true regeneration of the attachment apparatus (new cementum, new periodontal ligament, and new alveolar bone) on a previously diseased root surface. The PerioLase MVP-7 including eGUI or another device capable of laser dosimetry, such as an original MVP-7 type laser without the eGUI, achieves this with the LANAP protocol (laser-assisted new attachment procedure) and the LENAP protocol (laser excisional new attachment procedure).

MICRO-NEEDLE DEVICE

The present disclosure provides for a micro-needle device (100, 200, 300, 400) that includes a micro-needle array (102, 202, 302, 402) and a liquid connection port (104, 204, 304, 404). The micro-needle array includes a base (106, 206, 306, 406), a sidewall (108, 208, 308, 408) and a top (110, 210, 310, 410), where the base includes two or more of an elongate micro-needle (112, 212, 312, 412) having an interior surface (114, 214, 314, 414) defining an opening 8116, 216, 316, 416) through the elongate micro-needle. The base has a first major surface (118, 218, 318, 418) and a second major surface (120, 220, 320, 420) through which the opening of the elongate micro-needle passes to provide a passage across the base. The top has an interior surface (122, 222, 322, 422) and the sidewall has an interior surface (126, 226, 326, 426), where the interior surface of the side wall, the interior surface of the top and the first major surface of the base define a volume (130, 230, 330, 430). The liquid connection port has a fluid connection with the volume of the micro-needle array such that dental local anesthetic fed through the connection port can exit through the opening of the elongate micro-needle.

Disclosed are applicators and methods for injecting a liquid, such as anesthetic, into a patient with no or minimal pain. The applicator includes a coupling and a blade rotatably mounted on the coupling. The coupling is arranged to receive a cartridge in which a cannula is mounted such that the cannula extends through a proximal channel of the coupling and into a distal channel of the blade. The coupling is further arranged to secure the applicator to a source of liquid such that the liquid can be selectively introduced into and through the cannula into the tissue of the patient. The blade is thin enough for atraumatic insertion into a gingival sulcus of the patient.
