APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR DILATING AND MODIFYING OSTIA OF PARANASAL SINUSES AND OTHER INTRANASAL OR PARANASAL STRUCTURES

Sinusitis and other disorders of the ear, nose and throat are diagnosed and/or treated using minimally invasive approaches with flexible or rigid instruments. Various methods and devices are used for remodeling or changing the shape, size or configuration of a sinus ostium or duct or other anatomical structure in the ear, nose or throat; implanting a device, cells or tissues; removing matter from the ear, nose or throat; delivering diagnostic or therapeutic substances or performing other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Introducing devices (e.g., guide catheters, tubes, guidewires, elongate probes, other elongate members) may be used to facilitate insertion of working devices (e.g. catheters e.g. balloon catheters, guidewires, tissue cutting or remodeling devices, devices for implanting elements like stents, electrosurgical devices, energy emitting devices, devices for delivering diagnostic or therapeutic agents, substance delivery implants, scopes etc.) into the paranasal sinuses or other structures in the ear, nose or throat.

Delivery Apparatus and Accompanying System for the Application of a Medical Agent to a Treatment Site and Method for Use of Same
20200069892 · 2020-03-05 ·

A medication delivery apparatus and system for the application of a medical agent to a treatment site, such as an airway, and method for use of same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the medication delivery apparatus and system, a reservoir supplies a medical agent to a lower chamber of a housing wherein an ultrasonic transducer applies ultrasonic energy thereto, thereby nebulizing the medical agent. A control valve is interposed between a source of positive pressure air and an upper chamber of the housing to selectively apply positive air pressure to the upper chamber. Upon the application of positive air pressure, the airflow delivers the nebulized medical agent to a target location, such as the airway.

Correlating a condition of a subject with a degree of sleep apnea being experienced by the subject

A system can perform the following procedure as part of a plan to treat sleep apnea, according to an embodiment. The system monitors a degree to which an airway of a subject is open, and monitors a condition that is related to the degree to which the airway is open. The system also correlates the condition to the degree to which the airway is open, and generates a data structure that represents the correlation between the condition and the degree to which the airway is open. This system can allow a sleep-apnea-treatment system to operate in a closed-loop mode, i.e., to monitor a level of sleep apnea in a subject by monitoring the correlated condition, and to treat the subject in a manner that the treatment system deems appropriate for the level of sleep apnea that the treatment system determines that the subject is experiencing.

A system comprising a handpiece and drive system configured to removably couple to a proximal end of a housing. A scalpet assembly is configured to removeably couple to the housing, and includes a scalpet array comprising at least one scalpet configured for rotation. The scalpet array is configured to harvest dermal plugs via fractional resection. A collection chamber is configured to collect the dermal plugs, and to house formation of an injectable filler by mincing the dermal plugs, and mixing the dermal plugs with a carrier. The injectable filler is configured for bulk fill. The collection chamber includes a loading port, and a cannular syringe is configured to mate with the loading port to receive the injectable filler, and to deliver the injectable filler for the bulk fill.

Intelligent Laryngeal Mask Airway Device with Visualization

A laryngeal mask airway device that establishes pulmonary breathing of a patient and receives a endotracheal tube includes an airway tube with a distal end mask, the mask having a peripheral cuff to form a seal around the patient's laryngeal inlet. An endoscope channel is formed separately from the airway tube so as to receive an endoscope capable of illuminating and viewing the laryngeal anatomy. The endoscope channel may be closed by a transparent viewing window at a distal end. In an embodiment the endoscope channel has a mechanical asymmetry to ensure proper insertion of the visualizaton stylet. The airway device may include an additional channel for monitoring pressure in the laryngeal region. A visualization stylet to be used with the airway device is preferably connected wirelessly to display equipment. The airway device can also include markings to be imaged by the visualization stylet during insertion, for correct placement and to assess dimensions of a patient's anatomical features.

A Laryngeal oral airway (LOA) includes a mouthpiece flange defining two separate nostril-like openings in communication with separate elongated airways extending towards the larynx when in use. The nostril-like openings on the mouthpiece are spaced, shaped, and configured to snugly fit nasal prongs a nasal cannula therein, such that the nasal cannula is readily moveable between the patient's nostrils and the artificial nostril openings defined in the mouthpiece of the airway. The cannula is further secured by notches defined in the LOA.

A medication delivery apparatus and system for the application of a local anesthetic to a treatment site, such as an airway, and method for use of same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the medication delivery apparatus and system, a reservoir supplies a local anesthetic to a lower chamber of a housing wherein an ultrasonic transducer applies ultrasonic energy thereto, thereby nebulizing the local anesthetic. A control valve is interposed between a source of positive pressure air and an upper chamber of the housing to selectively apply positive air pressure to the upper chamber. Upon the application of positive air pressure, the airflow delivers the nebulized anesthetic to a patient's airway by way of a laryngoscope side port coupling, laryngoscope vacuum port coupling, or catheter coupling, for example. The application of local anesthetic, itself, in this nebulized manner mitigates gaging, chocking, aspirating, bucking and laryngospasms.
