SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERY OF A THERAPEUTIC AGENT
Methods and apparatus are provided for applying an fragment of a neurotoxin such as the active light chain (LC) of the botulinum toxin (BoNT), such as one of the serotype A, B, C, D, E, F or G botulinum toxins, via permeabilization of targeted cell membranes to enable translocation of the botulinum neurotoxin light chain (BoNT-LC) molecule across the targeted cell membrane to the cell cytosol where a therapeutic response is produced in a mammalian system. The methods and apparatus include use of catheter based delivery systems, non-invasive delivery systems, and transdermal delivery systems.
MEDICAL TUBES FOR SELECTIVE MECHANICAL VENTILATION OF THE LUNGS
An endobronchial tube is provided that includes a medical tube comprising an endotracheal portion and a bronchial portion having a common single lumen extending between a proximal end and a distal end of the tube, a first endotracheal inflatable cuff for sealing against a trachea of a patient, a second endotracheal inflatable cuff positioned distal to the first endotracheal inflatable cuff for sealing against the trachea of the patient; a bronchial inflatable cuff positioned near a distal end of the medical tube after the first endotracheal inflatable cuff and the second endotracheal inflatable cuff, for sealing the left main stem bronchi of the patient, an intraluminal balloon blocker positioned along an inner surface of the bronchial portion for sealing the common single lumen at the distal end of the bronchial portion, and an aperture positioned between the endotracheal portion and the bronchial portion.
Methods and devices for passive residual lung volume reduction and functional lung volume expansion
The volume of a hyperinflated lung compartment is reduced by sealing a distal end of the catheter in an airway feeding the lung compartment. Air passes out of the lung compartment through a passage in the catheter while the patient exhales. A one-way flow element associated with the catheter prevents air from re-entering the lung compartment as the patient inhales. Over time, the pressure of regions surrounding the lung compartment cause it to collapse as the volume of air diminishes. Residual volume reduction effectively results in functional lung volume expansion. Optionally, the lung compartment may be sealed in order to permanently prevent air from re-entering the lung compartment.
AIRWAY DILATION BALLOON WITH HOLLOW CORE
A system to dilate a stenotic region of an airway of a patient includes a stylet and a dilation catheter. The dilation catheter includes a catheter shaft and an inflatable balloon. The catheter shaft defines a shaft lumen and is configured to receive at least a portion of the stylet. The shaft lumen is axially aligned with a first longitudinal axis. The inflatable balloon is in fluid communication with an inflation lumen. The inflatable balloon is configured to transition between non-expanded and expanded configurations using the inflation lumen. The inflatable balloon has an outer perimeter configured to contact the stenotic region of the airway when in the expanded configuration. The inflatable balloon includes a pass-through lumen that is axially aligned with a second longitudinal axis that is laterally offset a distance from the first longitudinal axis. The pass-through lumen is disposed completely within the outer perimeter of the inflatable balloon.
Directed fluidics
Methods and systems for administering directed fluidics during a medical procedure for removing an object are disclosed. A method includes inserting first and second medical instruments into a treatment site, providing irrigation and aspiration of the treatment site through the first and second medical instruments, determining a characteristic of one of the irrigation and the aspiration, and selecting a characteristic of the other of the irrigation and aspiration based on the determined characteristic.
Methods for intraluminal local drug delivery
Devices, systems for localized delivery of a chemotherapy, hormonal therapy or targeted drug/biologic therapy to a target tissue area of an internal body organ of a patient. A catheter 10 forms a sealed treatment chamber in a natural lumen extending through the target tissue area. Air is purged from the chamber, which is then filled with a liquid drug solution for an adequate treatment session time, solution volume and drug concentration to saturate the target tissue area, thereby providing the treatment. The liquid drug solution may be circulated or recirculated through the chamber or maintained stationary therewithin. The drug may saturate the target tissue area and pass therethrough into the lymphatic system or interstitial space, which may serve as a reservoir of the drug for continued therapeutic treatment after withdrawal of the catheter. The chamber is evacuated at the end of the treatment session.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF AEROSOL DELIVERY WITH AIRFLOW REGULATION
An example aerosol delivery device includes a mouthpiece having an airflow outlet, and an airflow passage extending between an airflow inlet and the airflow outlet. The example aerosol delivery device further includes a housing configured to receive a cartridge that includes an aerosolizable substance and a vapor element configured to heat the aerosolizable substance, and an internal power source configured to provide electrical power. The example aerosol delivery device further includes a controller coupled to the internal power source to receive a portion of the electrical power and configured to, when the cartridge is installed at the housing, cause the vapor element of the cartridge to heat the aerosolizable substance to release an aerosol into the airflow passage during an inhalation through the airflow outlet, and a connector configured to receive power from an external source to recharge the internal power source.
VASCULAR ISOLATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system and method enabling the receipt of image data of a patient, identification of one or more locations within the image data depicting symptoms of lung disease, analyzing airways and vasculature proximate the identified locations, planning a pathway to the one or more locations, navigating an extended working channel to one of the locations, identifying the direction of blood flow within vasculature serving the location, positioning a catheter proximate the location, and temporarily isolating a portion of the identified vasculature serving the location depicting symptoms of lung disease.
NEEDLE SYSTEM RESTRICTOR
A needle system a handle and a needle slider partially positioned in the handle. The needle slider has an aspiration port at a proximal end of the needle slider. A needle connected to and extending away from the needle slider. A restrictor is disposed in the aspiration port of the needle slider. The restrictor is configured to inhibit passage of a sample through the aspiration port.
FOAM FOR PULMONARY DRUG DELIVERY
A method for delivery of one or more active agents into the pulmonary system of a subject using liquid foam is provided. The invention further provides a pulmonary drug delivery device for providing a liquid foam to a target site of a respiratory system.
