Method for sensing environmental conditions
12132468 · 2024-10-29 · ·

A method includes receiving, by an RF receiving circuit of a passive wireless sensor of a wireless communication system, an RF signal. When a sensing element of the passive wireless sensor is exposed to an environmental condition, the method further includes affecting, by the sensing element, resonant frequency of the RF receiving circuit. The method further includes determining, by a processing module of the passive wireless sensor, a first value for an adjustable element for a known environmental condition, determining a second value for the adjustable element for an unknown environmental condition, determining a difference between the first and second values that correspond to a change, generating a coded value representative of the change, and transmitting the coded value. The method further includes receiving, by a second processing module of a sensor computing device of the wireless communication system, the coded value and determining a sensed environmental condition.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING A FREQUENCY ESTIMATION SIGNAL

A frequency estimation signal generator component arranged to receive an input frequency signal and to generate therefrom a frequency estimation signal. The frequency estimation signal generator component comprises a counter component arranged to sequentially output a sequence of control signal patterns over a plurality of digital control signals under the control of an oscillating signal derived from the received input frequency signal terns. The frequency estimation signal generator further comprises a continuous waveform generator component arranged to receive the plurality of digital control signals and a weighted analogue signal for each of the received digital control signals, and to output a continuous waveform signal comprising a sum of the weighted analogue signals for which the corresponding digital control signals comprise an asserted logical state. The frequency conversion component is arranged to derive the frequency estimation signal from the continuous waveform signal output by the continuous waveform generator component

Tunable evanescent-mode cavity filter with closed loop control

An evanescent-mode cavity filter with an improved MEMS tuner design is disclosed. The MEMS tuner design allows for the independent control of individual poles in a multi-pole filter, which increases the adaptability of the filter in a crowded RF environment. The filter is further designed to minimize tuning voltages and hysteresis effects. A closed loop control system provides highly responsive tuning of the filter. The closed loop control allows for accurate and stable tuning that compensates for temperature and vibrational effects, while the tuner design enables fast tuning and significantly increases the resolution of the feedback measurement by eliminating charge buildup in the tuner substrate.

This invention provides a mobile terminal and a network searching method for overcoming crystal aging issue. The method includes the step of: searching network by invoking parameters stored in a first area of a volatile RAM; if the searching is failed, searching network by invoking parameters stored in a second area of the volatile RAM; if the searching is failed and the number of network searches is larger than a first predetermined value, reacquiring parameters and searching network; if the searching is succeeded, updating the parameters in the first area with the reacquired parameters. By this method, the invention can effectively solve the problems caused by crystal aging or defective crystals, and increases the robustness of the network searching.

High reliability power tuners

High reliability impedance tuners used in high power measurements suffer fast heating and consequently thermal expansion of the central conductor, which has a very small mass and is thermally isolated from the tuner housing. This leads to false measurements or catastrophic tuner failure (short) of either the DUT or the tuner. A method is introduced for allowing the center conductor to expand linearly without deforming and risking loss of accuracy first and catastrophic failure later. Practical tests have shown significant thermal behavior improvement.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A SELECTIVE SWITCHING DEVICE FOR SIGNALS
20170179918 · 2017-06-22 ·

The disclosure relates to a method for operating a selective switching device for signals, a related selective switching device, and a message transmission system having the selective switching device. An embodiment of the method includes the following steps, not necessarily in this order: determining a current temperature in the region of the selective switching device; determining a signal shift of the selective switching device due to the current temperature; adding the signal shift to an input signal of the selective switching device as to receive a compensated signal for which the signal shift due to the current temperature is compensated; and removing the signal shift from an output signal of the selective switching device as to receive a corrected signal for which the compensation is corrected.
