MONTAGE DESIGN FOR CLOSED LOOP SENSING AND NEUROSTIMULATION OF THE DORSAL LATERAL PREFRONTAL CORTEX AND/OR MOTOR CORTEX
Described is a system for automatic adjustment of neurostimulation. The system controls stimulation of specific neural regions through a neural device positioned on a human subject, while simultaneously performing recordings from the neural device using a targeted arrangement of stimulating electrodes and distinct types of recording electrodes of the neural device. Stimulation of the specific neural regions is adjusted in real-time based on the recordings from the neural device.
Energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder and method of using same
An energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder comprising a nanocapacitor connected to at least one carbon nanotube and method of using same are described. An adjustable amount of electric energy is stored within the nanocapacitor so that the energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder delivers either a biologically destructive or a biologically non-destructive electrical charge to target cells in response to biological, chemical or electrical stimuli. An optional biocompatible coating onto the outer surface of the carbon nanotube transponder improves cellular targeting, cellular binding or body tolerance towards the carbon nanotube transponder. Optionally, a molecular label attached to at least one carbon nanotube allows for in vivo tracking of the carbon nanotube transponder. The targeted release of electric energy from the carbon nanotube transponder can, for example, destroy cancer cells in cancer patients, or control the flux of electric wave within a cellular tissue to treat cardiac and/or epileptic patients.
Method and ophthalmic device for galvanic healing of an eye
An apparatus for controlled healing of ocular erosions is described. The apparatus comprising; an optical surface comprising an energizable controller capable of being programmed to transmit energy from an energy source onto/into an ocular surface, through the use of a current generator in electrical connection with energy emitting contacts capable of transmitting an electric field. The controller, current generator and energy emitting contacts are biocompatible or encapsulated by a conductive biocompatible layer to allow positioning of said apparatus in an ocular surface.
Orthopaedic implant with sensors
A monitoring system includes: (1) an implant having at least one sensor and configured for at least partial insertion into a patient, a first one of sensors being in contact with a perimeter of a hole in a body portion of the implant for accepting a fastener; (2) a microchip associated with the implant and the sensor, the microchip configured to receive at least a first signal from the sensor; (3) a transmitter associated with the microchip for transmitting a second signal, representative of the first signal; (4) a receiver located outside of the patient, the receiver configured receive the transmitted second signal; and (5) a display device associated with the receiver, the display device configured to provide an audible or visual representation of the second signal to a user.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ORAL AND SYSTEMIC MALADIES IN ANIMALS USING ELECTRICAL CURRENT
Systems and methods for the concurrent treatment of multiple oral diseases and defects while promoting general oral hygiene utilizing electricity are provided for non-human animals. Electrodes are used to deliver an electrical current to the gingival tissues of a mouth in order to achieve a number of therapeutic, prophylactic, and regenerative benefits. These benefits include killing oral microbes, increasing oral vasodilation, reducing oral biofilm, improving oral blood circulation, reversing oral bone resorption, promoting oral osteogenesis, treating gum recession, and fostering gingival regeneration. Other benefits include the treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis, and oral malodor, and other systemic diseases correlated with oral pathogens.
Electrode for disc therapy
An electrode is provided that includes a wire that has a wire diameter of between 75 and 125 microns. The electrode includes a non-electrically-insulated current-application longitudinal segment, which, in the absence of any applied forces, is coiled and has (i) an outer coil diameter of between 3 and 7 times the wire diameter, and (ii) an entire longitudinal length of between 5 and 35 mm. The electrode further includes an electrically-insulated lead longitudinal segment, which has an entire longitudinal length of at least 10 mm, in the absence of any applied forces. Other embodiments are also described.
Implantable devices and methods for control of bacterial infections
An implantable antibacterial barrier device for an elongated medical device, the elongated medical device configured to extend from a first site, through a second site, to a third site. The implantable antibacterial barrier device includes a housing configured to be disposed at the first site, a working electrode configured to be disposed at the second site, and a reference electrode configured to be disposed at the first site. The housing includes barrier circuitry. The working electrode electrically is coupled to the barrier circuitry. The reference electrode is electrically coupled to the barrier circuitry. The barrier circuitry is configured to selectively maintain the working electrode at a negative electrical potential relative to the reference electrode to form an antibacterial barrier.
BEAUTY INSTRUMENT
A beauty instrument capable of imparting a massaging effect to skin. A beauty instrument is configured such that a pair of balls is supported at the tip of a handle. The balls are positioned at a distance from each another, and are capable of rotating around respective axes thereof.
BIOABSORBABLE OR PARTIALLY-BIOABSORBABLE BONE GROWTH STIMULATOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A BIOABSORBABLE OR PARTIALLY-BIOABSORBABLE BONE-REGENERATION STIMULATOR SYSTEM
A bone growth simulator system. A bioabsorbable electric circuit is encapsulated in a modified alginate known-time dissolving capsule having a rate of dissolving proportional to the thickness of the capsule. The electronic circuit is powered by a power source. The power source can be inside the capsule or outside the capsule, and can be bioabsorbable or at least biocompatible. An operational amplifier maintains constant current through the circuit. The current stimulates bone growth in bones adjacent to the circuit. The capsule and electric circuit dissolve after completion of the therapy.
Electricity and microcurrent generator
The present invention relates to a microcurrent generator capable of generating microcurrents by utilizing a gap between different metals and obtaining a healing effect by using the generated microcurrents. The present invention relates to a configuration of generating microcurrents by forming a gap (G) between a first metal (10) and a second metal (20) made from different materials.
