WIRELESS PATCH SYSTEM FOR TRANSDERMAL, TRANSMUCOSAL AND DENTAL ELECTRICAL DRUG DELIVERY
Methods and systems for delivering drug particles to a target site are disclosed. An example method for implementing the subject matter described herein includes applying a drug delivery patch to a target site. The drug delivery patch can include a substrate, an electrode integrated with the substrate, and a fluid in the substrate having drug particles suspended in the fluid. The method further includes transmitting a signal to the drug delivery patch to power the drug delivery patch by inductive coupling. Powering the drug delivery patch causes the electrode in the drug delivery patch to motivate the drug particles towards a target site of the drug delivery patch.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ORAL IONTOPHORESIS
A method for delivery of oral iontophoretic or reverse-iontophoretic effect by electrical current in combination with electrokinetic elements (e.g., ions, charged molecule(s) (such as a medication or a bioactive agent), and/or charged molecular complexes that may include uncharged molecules), the electrical current causing a motive force on such elements to and from biological tissues and fluids.
Methods, systems, and apparatuses for delivery of electrolysis products
Example apparatuses and systems are disclosed for providing controlled delivery of electrolysis products to a site which may be used for treatment of infection and ablation of undesirable cells and tissue. A system disclosed may include a power supply, two electrodes, an aqueous matrix that may close the electric circuit between the electrodes at the treated site, and a controller. The controller may control the electrical circuit to induce a direct current through the electrodes and an aqueous matrix to produce electrolysis products. The duration and magnitude of the charge applied may determine the dose of the products applied to the treatment site. The composition of the electrodes and the aqueous matrix may be chosen to produce desired products. An apparatus is disclosed that may be in the form of a pad for applying to a wound. An apparatus is disclosed that may be used for treating internal tissue.
UNIFIED METHOD SWEAT SAMPLE COLLECTOR
Described are devices and methods that that include at least one sweat stimulating and collecting material, which can be a sweat stimulating and collecting iontophoresis material. In methods of stimulating and collecting sweat, the method may include (1) stimulating the production of sweat in a subject by delivering at least one sweat-stimulating substance out of a material and into contact with the skin of a subject, and (2) collecting at least a portion of the sweat in the material. Methods in accordance with principles of the present invention can also include transferring the material to a container, removing the material, and analyzing the sweat captured therein.
ORAL APPLIANCE FOR THE TREATMENT OF SLEEP APNEA
An oral appliance for treating sleep apnea in a user includes a mouthpiece configured for being positioned in an oral cavity of the user, and at least one pulse oximeter attached to the mouthpiece. According to an aspect, the pulse oximeter is configured to monitor actual oxygen saturation levels of hemoglobin of the user when the oral appliance is positioned in the oral cavity of the user. The oral appliance may include an additional sensor attached to the mouthpiece that includes at least one of an airflow sensor, a pressure sensor, a noise detector, and an actigraphy sensor.
SYNERGISTIC THERAPIES FOR INTERVERTEBRAL DISC DEGENERATION
A method for treating an intervertebral disc of a subject is provided, the method including delivering a growth factor to a nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc. At least one intra-pulposus exposed electrode surface is implanted in the nucleus pulposus. At least one extra-pulposus exposed electrode surface is implanted in a body of the subject outside the nucleus pulposus. The growth factor is supported by activating control circuitry to drive the intra-pulposus and the extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces to electroosmotically drive nutrient-containing fluid into the nucleus pulposus. Other embodiments are also described.
Energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder and method of using same
An energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder comprising a nanocapacitor connected to at least one carbon nanotube and method of using same are described. An adjustable amount of electric energy is stored within the nanocapacitor so that the energy-releasing carbon nanotube transponder delivers either a biologically destructive or a biologically non-destructive electrical charge to target cells in response to biological, chemical or electrical stimuli. An optional biocompatible coating onto the outer surface of the carbon nanotube transponder improves cellular targeting, cellular binding or body tolerance towards the carbon nanotube transponder. Optionally, a molecular label attached to at least one carbon nanotube allows for in vivo tracking of the carbon nanotube transponder. The targeted release of electric energy from the carbon nanotube transponder can, for example, destroy cancer cells in cancer patients, or control the flux of electric wave within a cellular tissue to treat cardiac and/or epileptic patients.
Method and ophthalmic device for galvanic healing of an eye
An apparatus for controlled healing of ocular erosions is described. The apparatus comprising; an optical surface comprising an energizable controller capable of being programmed to transmit energy from an energy source onto/into an ocular surface, through the use of a current generator in electrical connection with energy emitting contacts capable of transmitting an electric field. The controller, current generator and energy emitting contacts are biocompatible or encapsulated by a conductive biocompatible layer to allow positioning of said apparatus in an ocular surface.
Content reproduction apparatus, content reproduction method, and storage medium
A content reproduction apparatus includes a storage unit storing a plurality of content files and performs treatments by playing the content files stored in the storage unit. The content reproduction apparatus also includes a treatment setting unit configured to set a treatment based on a treatment condition input by a user; a content file obtaining unit configured to obtain, from the storage unit, a content file corresponding to the treatment set by the treatment setting unit; and an edit-and-output unit configured to play the content file obtained by the content file obtaining unit or the content file edited according to an instruction of the user.
