20230030152 · 2023-02-02 ·

The present disclosure provides electroporation systems and methods of energizing a catheter for delivering electroporation. A catheter for delivering electroporation includes a distal section and an electrode assembly. The distal section is configured to be positioned in a vein within a body. The vein defines a central axis. The electrode assembly is coupled to the distal section and includes a structure and a plurality of electrodes distributed thereabout. The structure is configured to at least partially contact the vein. Each of the electrodes is configured to be selectively energized to form a circumferential ring of energized electrodes that is concentric with the central axis of the vein.

Provided herein are new compositions, methods, and devices to treat cancer through a combination of immunologic chemotherapeutic agents and ablation techniques. These compositions can include immune checkpoint inhibitors, cytokines and nucleic acid drugs that aid in eliciting an immune response to treat the tumor. The administration of these compositions in addition to various ablating techniques provides a presentation of the cancer cell antigens to the immune system and the immunologic targeting of the cancer.

A method is provided for treating an intervertebral disc of a subject, the method including implanting at least one intra-pulposus exposed electrode surface in a nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc, and implanting one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces outside the nucleus pulposus, in electrical communication with the intervertebral disc. Control circuitry, while electrically coupled to the at least one intra-pulposus exposed electrode surface and the one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces, is activated to drive fluid and introduce nutritional substances into the intervertebral disc, by applying a voltage between the at least one intra-pulposus exposed electrode surface and the one or more extra-pulposus exposed electrode surfaces. Other embodiments are also described.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR INCREASED TRANSFORMATION EFFICIENCY FOR ELECTROPORATION OF MICROORGANISMS

The present disclosure relates to a high throughput, scalable system for electroporation of biological cells. The two part system comprises an electroporation reaction array that interfaces with a control unit, providing electrical pulse, temperature control, and mixing of the sample contents. The control unit automates the entire process; electroporation, cell recovery and outgrowth are performed in a electroporation array assembly. The bottom of each reaction well of the electroporation array assembly contains a pair of coplanar electrodes. The bottom surface containing the electrodes is treated in a way to render it hydrophilic. This results in increased wetting of the electrodes thereby increasing transformation efficiency. The electrode configuration allows for processing of smaller sample volumes, reducing the consumption of expensive biological reagents by several orders of magnitude compared to conventional cuvette-based electroporation devices.

A device, system, and method for delivering energy to tissue. In particular, the present invention relates to a system and method for enhancing lesion formation without arrhythmogenic effects within relatively thick target tissues, such as the ventricles of the heart. In one embodiment, charge-neutral pulses and non-charge-neutral pulses may be delivered to induce the formation of electrolytic compounds that enhance cell death at the treatment site. Additionally or alternatively, tissue at the treatment site may be heated to sub-lethal temperature before ablating the tissue.
