If a configuration is employed in which modulation schemes used for an optical communication system can be switched depending on transmission conditions, it is difficult to make effective utilization of frequency resources without the power consumption increasing and the control becoming complex; therefore, an optical transmitter according to an exemplary aspect of the present invention includes an interface means for converting a digital signal to be transmitted under a predetermined transmission condition over an optical carrier wave into a parallel signal with a predetermined bit number at a predetermined transmission rate, and outputting the parallel signal; an encoding means for encoding the parallel signal using one coding system from among a plurality of convolutional coding systems with different degrees of redundancy; a mapping means for mapping an output bit signal output from the encoding means to a modulation symbol; an optical modulation means for modulating the optical carrier wave based on a symbol signal output from the mapping means; and an encoding control means for selecting a predetermined coding system corresponding to the predetermined transmission condition from among the plurality of convolutional coding systems and controlling the interface means, the encoding means, the mapping means, and the optical modulation means in such a way as to operate in accordance with the predetermined coding system.

Position encoder sample timing system

A position encoder system (e.g., including a linear encoder) is configured to rapidly provide encoder position data in response to position trigger signals that are received from a host motion control system at predictable times (e.g., according to a preset frequency, etc.) A pre-trigger lead time is determined that is a fraction of a duration of a defined encoder position sample period. A current instance of the encoder position sample period is then initiated at the pre-trigger lead time before a next predictable time of the position trigger signal. A current position trigger signal is then received (e.g., near the middle of the current instance of the encoder position sample period) from the host motion control system. The average effective sample time of the current instance of the encoder position sample period coincides with the actual timing of the current position trigger signal within an allowed tolerance window.

The linear measuring system includes one part of a (usually steel) rod, beam or strip that is profiled with a trapezium like (subset of a) De Bruijn sequence. Each element of the alphabet is represented by a discrete height of the profile. The profile can be coated with a material with low magnetic susceptibility to enable the application on a piston rod of a pressure medium cylinder. The second part of the measuring system reads the subsequences of the main sequence by using the signals of arrays of linear Hall effect sensors, placed in a magnetic field as input for a signal processing algorithm. With a look-up table, the position of this second part of the measuring system with respect to the profile is determined. An interpolation algorithm can be used to improve the resolution to well below the sequence pitch.

An angle encoder has first and second components rotatable with respect to each other, and an encoder pattern having codewords for indicating the angle between the first and second components. The encoder pattern has a set of base encoder channels coded with a conventional Gray code, and a set of Booster channels for improving the resolution of angle measurement.

Encoder assembly for an appliance knob

A knob assembly is provided that includes a knob having a rotatable shaft, a rotatable first circuit board rigidly attached to the rotatable shaft, and a fixed second circuit board positioned near the first circuit board. The first circuit board includes an encoding portion configured to provide positioning data of the knob, and an eccentric rotating mass (ERM) motor mounted to the rotatable, first circuit board with a shaft of the ERM motor perpendicular to the rotatable shaft of the knob. The ERM motor is configured to produce and transfer vibration to the rotatable shaft of the knob. The second circuit board includes a sensor configured to determine a position of the first circuit board and thereby the knob at least in part from the positioning data provided by the encoding portion.

This application provides a channel encoding method and a communication apparatus. A second communication apparatus obtains a first parameter of a first communication apparatus, where the first parameter includes a parameter related to channel coding and decoding and a reinforcement learning training parameter. The second communication apparatus determines, based on the first parameter, first code construction information for constructing a coded bit sequence based on an information bit sequence during channel encoding; and after sending the first code construction information to the first communication apparatus, performs channel encoding and decoding on communication data between the first communication apparatus and the second communication apparatus by using the first code construction information to improve channel encoding performance and further improve communication reliability.
