Analog to digital converter
A pipelined ADC that does not wait for the residue of a signal to settle to be delivered to the next stage of the pipeline, and thus passes signals to subsequent stages at faster than conventional speeds. A pipelined ADC is used that processes signals representing the boundaries of the search space. Thus, each stage does not necessarily receive the signal as pre-processed by the prior stage, but rather the search space boundaries as pre-processed by the prior stage. Reducing the “search space” of the ADC is equivalent to creating the residues in each step of a pipeline as in the prior art. An ADC operating in this fashion operates without error even if the residual search space boundary outputs from one state are presented to the next stage before the outputs have settled, and can run faster for a given power and bandwidth.
Receiver with adjustable reference voltages
A receiver having an analog to digital converter with adjustable reference voltages that are calibrated to account for process variations. The receiver comprises an analog to digital converter. The analog to digital converter includes a reference generator to generate a set of N reference voltages. The reference generator adjusts voltage levels of the set of N reference voltages based on one or more control signals. A plurality of comparators compare an input signal to the set of N reference voltages. A calibration circuit generates the one or more control signals for adjusting the voltage levels of the N reference voltages based on outputs of the comparators.

Finfet quantum structures utilizing quantum particle tunneling through local depleted well
Novel and useful quantum structures having a continuous well with control gates that control a local depletion region to form quantum dots. Local depleted well tunneling is used to control quantum operations to implement quantum computing circuits. Qubits are realized by modulating gate potential to control tunneling through local depleted region between two or more sections of the well. Complex structures with a higher number of qdots per continuous well and a larger number of wells are fabricated. Both planar and 3D FinFET semiconductor processes are used to build well to gate and well to well tunneling quantum structures. Combining a number of elementary quantum structure, a quantum computing machine is realized. An interface device provides an interface between classic circuitry and quantum circuitry by permitting tunneling of a single quantum particle from the classic side to the quantum side of the device. Detection interface devices detect the presence or absence of a particle destructively or nondestructively.

Single phase analog counter for a digital pixel
An analog counter circuit for use with a digital pixel includes: an input; an output; a first stage electrically coupled to the input that is charged to an initial charge voltage; a second stage that includes an accumulating charge storage device; and a charge transfer device between the first and second stages that includes a transfer voltage. The charge transfer device allows charge from the first stage to pass to the second stage and be accumulated on the accumulating charge storage device as long as a voltage at a node in the first stage is greater than the transfer voltage.

Method and apparatus for improving the resolution of digitally sampled analog data
A system and method is described for converting an analog signal into a digital signal. The gain and offset of an ADC is dynamically adjusted so that the N-bits of input data are assigned to a narrower channel instead of the entire input range of the ADC. This provides greater resolution in the range of interest without generating longer digital data strings.
