A system (20) includes a plurality of electrodes (28), one or more radiofrequency (RF) generators (30), and a controller (36). The controller is configured to treat skin of a user (22), using one or more decision rules, responsively to multiple ascertained values of at least one parameter, by iteratively ascertaining at least one respective value of the ascertained values, by applying at least one of the decision rules to the ascertained value, identifying a treatment setting from among multiple treatment settings, and causing the RF generators to cause one or more RF currents to pass, through the skin, between at least some of the electrodes in accordance with the identified treatment setting. The controller is further configured to modify at least one of the decision rules in response to the ascertained values. Other embodiments are also described.

RADIO FREQUENCY SKIN TREATMENT

A device for radio frequency (RF) skin treatment of skin of a user comprising an active electrode, a return electrode, an RF generator arranged to supply RF energy to the user's skin via the active and return electrodes. The return electrode having a planar skin contact surface extending in a main plane. The active electrode having a skin contact surface with a maximum dimension in a range from 100 μm to 500 μm. The surface area of the planar skin contact surface of the return electrode is at least 5 times larger than a surface area of the skin contact surface of the active electrode. The skin contact surface of the active electrode is arranged in a position at a distance from the main plane. The device may be used to control the dimensions and shape of a thermal lesion in the user's skin generated by the RF energy.

Apparatus and method for the preparation and administration of blood components

A dual chambered syringe includes: an inner barrel defining a first inner chamber, the inner barrel having an apertured stopper at its distal end, the inner barrel being open at its proximal end; a shaft adapted to fit within the inner barrel, the shaft having a distal end which is engageable with the aperture of the stopper; a device for controlling engaging and disengaging of the distal end of the shaft with the aperture of the stopper; an outer barrel concentric with the inner barrel defining a second inner chamber, the outer barrel having a distal end for receiving and dispensing fluids and a proximal end into which the distal end of the inner barrel is insertable into the second inner chamber; the apertured stopper engages the second inner chamber of the outer barrel and selectively prevents or permits the passage of fluids between the outer barrel second chamber and the inner barrel first chamber; the inner barrel having an engageable surface on its outside surface; and, the outer barrel having operatively associated therewith an engaging device for selective engagement and disengagement with the engageable surface on the inner barrel.

A method for aesthetic soft tissue treatment includes placing at least one applicator in contact with the patient's body. The applicator has at least one electrode. Electrotherapy and radio frequency therapy are provided to the soft tissue, optionally with overlay or sequentially. A handheld applicator may be used, with the applicator moving during the therapy, which may provide muscle stimulation in the patient, or provide an analgesic effect during the treatment. A spacing object may be positioned between the skin of the patient and the applicator.

Systems and methods for treatment of a patient including rf and electrical energy

Systems and methods for a soft tissue treatment of a patient are provided herein. The device for a soft tissue treatment may include an applicator having at least one electrode, a fastening mechanism to fix the applicator to a body part of the patient, and a control unit having a microprocessor to control the at least one electrode. The at least one electrode may provide radiofrequency energy and pulsed electric current. The radiofrequency energy may cause a heating of a soft tissue. The electric current may cause contraction of a muscle within the body part. The body part may be a face.

A beauty instrument according to the present disclosure comprises a skin electrode disposed in a head, a grip electrode disposed in a grip, a voltage application circuit for applying a voltage between the skin electrode and the grip electrode to cause a current to flow between the skin electrode and the grip electrode through a human body, and a controller that controls the voltage application circuit. The controller comprises a touch detector that detects touch of a skin surface of the human body with the skin electrode. Before the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a first voltage having a relatively high frequency, and after the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a second voltage having a relatively low frequency.

METHOD OF TREATING TISSUE

A method of and apparatus for treating tissue wherein a handpiece with a cartridge of motor driven needles is placed in contact with tissue. The motor is energized to drive the needles. Energy is applied energy to the needles. Tissue impedance at the start of treatment is measured. Tissue impedance at the end of treatment is measured. The operator is then notified that corrective action is needed if the measured ending impedance is higher than the measured starting impedance indicating the needles are not inserted into the tissue.
