NONINVASIVE THERAPIES IN THE PRESENCE OF EXOGENOUS PARTICULATE AGENTS
Methods are disclosed for treating cell components, cells, organelles, organs, and/or tissues with acoustic energy, electromagnetic energy, static or alternating electric fields, and/or static or alternating magnetic fields in the presence or absence of exogenous particulate agents for therapeutic applications.
PARAMETER-BASED CONTROL OF A LUMEN TRAVELING DEVICE
Methods of controlling the operation of a device traveling in a body tube tree, including sensing parameters from possible directions of travel and selecting the direction of travel based on the sensed parameters, implemented with a control system located partially or fully on the lumen traveling device. Various actions can be performed by the device for, e.g., medical or therapeutic purposes. Machine-readable media including instructions for performing the methods are also described.

The treatment head includes an enclosure for enveloping a portion of a body in which an implant is to be treated, and which contains a plurality of transducers for converting a radio-frequency signal to generating a shaped alternating magnetic field.
FEMALE INSERTION SYSTEM
A female insertion system is provided. The system includes a conformable insert shaped for insertion into one or more structures of a female human that are associated with at least one of reproduction and one or more erogenous zones; one or more sensors, at least one of the sensors included in the insert, and configured to measure and to relay data, wherein the data is acquired on one of a one-time basis and a multiple-time basis included one of a non-continuous period, a continuous period, and an intermittent temporal period; and a processor configured to: control the insert; generate a treatment for one of the structures of the female human; store the data; and based on the data, automatically affect one or more of the structures via the insert.
Compositions and methods of altering the electric impedance to an alternating electric field
Disclosed are methods of altering the electric impedance to an alternating electric field in a target site of a subject, comprising introducing a nanoparticle to a target site in the subject; and applying an alternating electric field to the target site of the subject, wherein the electric impedance in the target site of the subject to the alternating current is altered. Disclosed are methods for improving transport of a nanoparticle across a cell membrane of a cell, the method comprising applying an alternating electric field to the cell for a period of time, wherein application of the alternating electric field increases permeability of the cell membrane; and introducing the nanoparticle to the cell, wherein the increased permeability of the cell membrane enables the nanoparticle to cross the cell membrane. Disclosed are methods of imaging a cancer cell, the method comprising applying a first alternating electric field at a first frequency to the cancer cell for a first period of time, wherein application of the first alternating electric field at the first frequency to the cancer cell for the first period of time increases permeability of cell membranes of the cancer cell; introducing a nanoparticle to the cancer cell, wherein the increased permeability of the cell membranes enables the nanoparticle to cross the cancer cell membrane; and imaging the cancer cell.
Synthetic antiferromagnet disk-shaped particle and suspension comprising such particles
The synthetic antiferromagnet disk-shaped particle comprises a first ferromagnetic layer, a second ferromagnetic layer and a non-magnetic interlayer arranged between the first and the second ferromagnetic layer, wherein each of the first and the second ferromagnetic layer comprises a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in the plane of the ferromagnetic layers such that the switching fields from an antiferromagnetic alignment of the first and the second ferromagnetic layer to a ferromagnetic alignment (H.sub.AF.fwdarw.F) and from the ferromagnetic alignment to the antiferromagnetic alignment (H.sub.F.fwdarw.AF) fulfill the condition
MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR REPEATABLE MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLE-BASED HEATING FOR TUMOR ABLATION
A method and a system for thermally or hyperthermally treating an object. A precipitating hydrophobic injectable liquid (PHIL) embolic agent is prepared and enhanced with a magnetic nanoparticle (NP). A delivery device is advanced to a target area and the PHILIONP embolic agent is injected directly at the target area. The PHIL and IONPS are observed in-situ using complementary imaging and an impulse is applied to the target area to generate heat sufficient to thermally ablate or induce hyperthymia at the target area. Additional impulses applied to the target areas at later times generate heat sufficient to ablate or induce hyperthymia at the target.
