LOCALIZED CANCER TUMOR DETECTION USING MICROWAVES AND NANOPARTICLES
The present disclosure provides devices, systems and methods for hyperthermia cancer treatment by supplying ferromagnetic nanoparticles to a target area having or suspected of having cancer cells, the ferromagnetic nanoparticles are configured to attach to the cancer cells and heat by absorbing magnetic energy, and radiating the target area with microwaves such that the target area is within a nearfield range of the radiated microwave, and the microwave radiation nearfield is magnetically biased such that the ratio of magnetic energy to electric energy is greater than 1.
SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR TREATMENT OF MYOPIA
A process for preventing or treating myopia includes applying a pulsed energy, such as a pulsed laser beam, to tissue of an eye having myopia or a risk of having myopia. The source of pulsed energy has energy parameters including wavelength or frequency, duty cycle and pulse train duration, which are selected so as to raise an eye tissue temperature up to eleven degrees Celsius to achieve therapeutic or prophylactic effect, such as stimulating heat shock protein activation in the eye tissue. The average temperature rise of the eye tissue over several minutes is maintained at or below a predetermined level so as not to permanently damage the eye tissue.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TUMOR TREATMENT
An apparatus used for increasing the level of CD4.sup.+T cells in a mammal. The mammal has a cancerous tissue. The apparatus comprises a cold treatment unit and a heat treatment unit. The cold treatment unit is used for cooling the cancerous tissue. The heat treatment unit is used for heating the cancerous tissue. A method for increasing the level of CD4.sup.+ T cells in the body of a cancer patient, comprising steps for cold treatment of the cancerous tissue and for heat treatment of the cancerous tissue.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ULTRASOUND INDUCED HYPERTHERMIA WITH MICROWAVE THERMOMETRY FEEDBACK
A device for providing hyperthermia treatment includes an ultrasound energy generator configured to apply low intensity ultrasound to target tissue. The low intensity ultrasound energy induces therapeutic heating in the tissue at or below the surface of the skin. In order to control the temperature of the tissue during therapy, a microwave radiometer, such as a Dicke radiometer, can be used to measure the temperature of the tissue and feed back the temperature measurement to the ultrasound energy generator to control ultrasonic energy produced and control the temperature of the target tissue.
Non-Invasive Convergent Heating Treatment
The invention relates to medical therapy of detrimental lesions. A system treats with non-invasive arrays of non-ionizing energy-radiation sources. The external sources focus energy dose distribution to a selected volume in a body. Energy output is directed towards a pathologic location and quenched around other sites or healthy tissue. Beam aiming is done without source movement. Targeted, volumetrically discrete energy deposition can beneficially manipulate lesions within the body. The purpose of the focused and enhanced energy deposition is to repair or disable pathologic physiology or structures, nerve pathways, extracellular fluid, and misfolded proteins. Locally augmented energy is used to enhance immunity, release pharmaceutical compounds from energy-sensitive vesicles and reconfigure or eliminate misfolded proteins and their aggregates. Targeted tissue may have enhanced sensitivity to received energy via a non-ionizing-radiation, treatment-localizing agent. This system optimizes delivery of non-ionizing, non-ablating electromagnetic or mechanical energy, degrading or repairing an abnormality upon interaction with it.
METHODS OF TREATING NASAL AIRWAYS
A device is described for treating a nasal airway by modifying a property of a nasal tissue of or near a nasal valve of the airway, without using a surgical incision or an implant, to decrease airflow resistance or perceived airflow resistance in the nasal airway. Various embodiments include an elongate shaft, a bipolar radiofrequency delivery member extending from one end of the shaft, and a handle attached to the elongate shaft at an opposite end from the radiofrequency delivery member. The radiofrequency delivery member is sized to be inserted into a nose and configured to at least temporarily deform the nasal tissue and deliver radiofrequency energy. The radiofrequency delivery member includes two rows of protruding electrodes disposed on a tissue contact surface, and the device is configured to deliver radiofrequency energy from one row of electrodes to the other row of electrodes.
TREATMENT PLANNING FOR FOCAL THERAPY TREATMENTS
The invention relates to a system for assisting in planning a focal therapy treatment of a structure (1) within a patient body (2) by applying a treatment quantity using one or more devices (4a,b,c) operated in one or more device positions. The system comprises a unit (10) configured to generate a constraint function representing clinical objectives relating to the treatment quantity, a selection unit (11) configured to determine, for each of at least some non-selected candidate device positions, a sum of negative derivatives of the constraint function with respect to the treatment parameter associated with the respective device position and to select a device position for use in the treatment based on a comparison of the determined sums, and an optimization unit (12; 408) configured to determine at least one optimized treatment parameter for the selected device position based on the constraint function.
