The transmitting apparatus includes an encoder to perform channel encoding with respect to bits and generate a codeword, an interleaver to interleave the codeword, and a modulator to map the interleaved codeword onto a non-uniform constellation according to a modulation scheme, and the constellation may include constellation points defined based on various tables according to the modulation scheme.

An encoding circuit includes an allocator configured to allocate symbols among a plurality of symbols within a constellation of multilevel modulation and correspond to values of a plurality of bit stings, a converter configured to convert values of each of bit strings excluding a first bit string so that, as a region within the constellation is closer to the center of the constellation, the number of symbols allocated in the region is larger, a switch configured to switch between a first time period in which a first error correction code is inserted and a second time period in which the first error correction code is not inserted, and an insertor configured to generate the first error correction code from a second bit string in the second time period and inserts the first error correction code in two or more bit strings in the first time period according to the switching.

A parity interleaving apparatus and method for fixed length signaling information are disclosed. A parity interleaving apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a processor configured to generate a parity bit string for parity puncturing by segmenting parity bits of an LDPC codeword whose length is 16200 and whose code rate is 3/15, into a plurality of groups, and group-wise interleaving the groups using an order of group-wise interleaving; and memory configured to provide the parity bit string for parity puncturing to a parity puncturing unit.

A communication device includes a first alignment circuit configured to receive, from a host device, a first encoded data stream including a plurality of symbols encoded with a first type of error correction code. The first alignment circuit is configured to output an aligned first encoded data stream that is aligned to boundaries between the plurality of symbols encoded with the first type of error correction code. An interleaver is configured to interleave the plurality of symbols of the aligned first encoded data stream into symbol sections each including a predetermined number of symbols encoded with the first type of error correction code. An encoder is configured to generate, for each of the symbol sections, a parity block corresponding to the symbols in the symbol section and to output a second encoded data stream including the aligned first encoded data stream and the parity block.

A transmitting apparatus is provided. The transmitting apparatus includes: an encoder configured to generate a low-density parity check (LDPC) codeword by LDPC encoding of input bits based on a parity check matrix including information word bits and parity bits, the LDPC codeword including a plurality of bit groups each including a plurality of bits; an interleaver configured to interleave the LDPC codeword; and a modulator configured to map the interleaved LDPC codeword onto a modulation symbol, wherein the interleaver is further configured to interleave the LDPC codeword such that a bit included in a predetermined bit group from among the plurality of bit groups constituting the LDPC codeword onto a predetermined bit of the modulation symbol.

A parity interleaving apparatus and method for variable length signaling information are disclosed. A parity interleaving apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a processor configured to generate a parity bit string for parity puncturing by segmenting parity bits of an LDPC codeword whose length is 16200 and whose code rate is 3/15, into a plurality of groups, and group-wise interleaving the groups using an order of group-wise interleaving; and memory configured to provide the parity bit string for parity puncturing to a parity puncturing unit.
