METHOD AND DEVICE FOR NOTIFYING AN ELECTRICITY DISCONNECTION
A method and a device for transmitting a message from a first node device to one or more node devices that are neighbours of the node device, the node devices belonging to an electrical supply network using powerline and radio communications. The first node device detects a disconnection of the electrical energy supply; the first node device checks in a routing table whether it is connected by a radio link to a neighbouring node device, if so, the first node device sends a unicast message by the radio link to the neighbouring node device indicating a disconnection of the electrical energy supply to the first node device, if not, the first node device sends a radio broadcast message indicating that a disconnection of the electrical energy supply is detected by the first node device.

Systems and methods for establishing secure communication in an electric power distribution system with software defined network
A system includes a switch of an electric power distribution system, the switch being configured to receive data and to transmit data, and the system includes a controller configured to communicatively couple to the switch. The controller is configured to create a software defined network by instructing the switch to transmit data to a location, and the controller is configured to generate a set of keys and to provide the set of keys to the switch to enable the switch to communicate data via a Media Access Security (MACsec) communication link, a MACsec key agreement (MKA) connectivity association, or both.
Electrical power and/or electrical signal transmission
An electrical power and/or electrical signal transmission system for transmitting electrical power and/or electrical signals from a location on a first side of a metallic wall to a location on a second side of the metallic wall includes a transmitting apparatus having an electrical source and a first transformer. A receiving apparatus has a receiving module for receiving electrical power and/or electrical signals and a second transformer. First and second ends of a primary winding of the second transformer are electrically connected to respective spaced locations on the second, opposite, side of the metallic wall for picking up electrical power and/or electrical signals from the metallic wall. The receiving module is electrically connected to a secondary winding of the second transformer to enable electrical power and/or electrical signals to be transmitted from the electrical source to the receiving module.
SIMPLIFIED FREQUENCY-DOMAIN FILTER ADAPTATION WINDOW
A physical layer transceiver for a data channel includes receiver circuitry configured to receive signals on the data channel, transmit circuitry configured to transmit signals onto the data channel, and adaptive filter circuitry coupled to the receiver circuitry and the transmit circuitry and configured to filter the data channel by operating on input frequency-domain data samples to output filtered data samples. The adaptive filter circuitry includes error sample generation circuitry configured to generate error samples representing a difference between a target response and the filtered data samples, arithmetic-only circuitry configured to approximate a windowing function to operate on the error samples, and output sample generation circuitry configured to operate on windowed error samples to provide the output filtered data samples. The comparison circuitry may be configured for time-domain operation and may further be configured to transform the error signals into frequency-domain error signals.
Short packet communication in a powerline communication network
A network device may transmit a short packet when the length of application data that will be transmitted does not exceed a threshold length. In some embodiments, the network device may transmit the application data in a frame control field of the short packet. The short packet may not include a payload field. In other embodiments, the network device may support multiple short payload field lengths and may transmit the application data in a short payload field with an appropriate short payload field length. The network device may also support communication techniques to transmit the application data in the short packet.
Method and system for distributed generation trip protection using power line carrier signaling
A method and system for sending a repetitive permissive guard signal from an electrical power substation to a distributed generation site over existing medium voltage distribution lines to detect an islanding condition and apply transfer trip protection is disclosed. The permissive guard signal causes a receiver at the distributed generation site to control a recloser at the distributed generation site. Loss of the signal at the receiver device causes the tripping of the recloser at the distributed generation site in less than two seconds. The tripping of the recloser physically disconnects the distributed generation site from the electric power grid. The coupling to the medium voltage distribution lines can be implemented via a single phase-to-ground coupling or via a phase-to-phase differential coupling for multi-phase medium voltage distribution lines.
