In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a housing, an emitter, and an electronic circuit. The housing is configured to fit within a patient's mouth. The emitter is at least partially encased within the housing. The emitter is configured to emit an effective amount of light to the alveolar soft tissue when the housing is disposed within the mouth. The electronic circuit is operatively coupled to the emitter. The electronic circuit is configured to control the emitter when the housing is disposed within the mouth and the apparatus is in use during orthodontic treatment. The apparatus and its use for regulating tooth movement or maintaining or improving oral tissue health are disclosed herein.
Navigation And Local Thermometry
A system including a thermal sensor with an instrument placed in a volume. The thermal sensor may be useful in determining a temperature at a surface of the instrument and a distance away from the instrument. A therapy may be performed based on a sensed temperature with the thermal sensors.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING A DOSE DISTRIBUTION
A system for generating a dose distribution is provided. The system may obtain a first dose distribution in at least a portion of a subject. The system may also obtain a trained machine learning model. The system may further generate, based on the first dose distribution and the trained machine learning model, a second dose distribution in the at least a portion of the subject, wherein the second dose distribution has a higher accuracy than that of the first dose distribution.
Laser therapy device and method of use
A computerized method for controlling the operation of a laser therapy device is disclosed. A laser therapy device comprising laser diodes has a microprocessor for storing and executing instructions pertaining to the operation of the laser diodes within certain parameters. The computerized method detects the movement of the laser therapy device and alters the output of the laser diodes when a movement signal exceeds predetermined threshold parameters. The computerized method detects difference in temperature in certain areas, and patterns in temperature differences, for assistance in diagnosing ailments. The computerized method also detects differences in skin color to determine treatment areas. The computerized method also measures the distance of the laser therapy device to a treatment area. The microprocessor executes instructions then which can alter the output of the laser diodes or generate an alarm signal based on measurements received.
Living body stimulator
Provided is a living body stimulator capable of bringing about a stable treatment effect through a light stimulation without increasing the temperature of an irradiation surface more than necessary. This invention is a living body stimulator for stimulating a living body through a light irradiation from a light source. This stimulator includes a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the irradiation surface in contact with the living body; and a brightness control unit for changing and controlling the brightness of the light source such that the temperature of the irradiation surface becomes not higher than 42° C., by receiving a detection output from the temperature sensor. The brightness control unit is capable of extending a period of irradiation from the light source in accordance with a decrease in the brightness thereof, when decreasing such brightness through a control regulation.
Optical surface applicator with integrated diffuser
A therapeutic light delivery apparatus and method are disclosed. The apparatus includes a light source and an integrated optical applicator. The integrated optical applicator includes a plurality of light emitting devices and detector fibers fixedly spatially positioned within a flexible matrix material. The light emitting devices can be positioned a predetermined distance from an application side of the integrated optical applicator comprising an accurate and repeatable standoff position. A flexible matrix material is disclosed having a high scattering coefficient to produce a uniform irradiance pattern and predetermined fluence. A method of performing a photodynamic therapy procedure is disclosed that includes providing an integrated optical applicator couple to a therapy light source, providing a photosensitizing drug to a tissue of a patient, positioning an application side of the integrated optical applicator against a target area of the tissue, delivering a therapy light to the target area, and producing an irradiance pattern.
SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED METHODS FOR DYNAMICALLY ADJUSTING CIRCADIAN RHYTHM RESPONSIVE TO CALENDARED FUTURE EVENTS
A method is for dynamically adjusting a circadian rhythm of an observer via a user device that includes control circuitry and an associated memory. The method includes accessing a calendar, identifying future events to precondition for and determining a preconditioning schedule for at least one of the identified future events. Determining the schedule includes identifying a circadian shift needed for the at least one identified future event, determining a magnitude of the circadian shift, determining a timeframe for preconditioning, determining a magnitude of a per-day shift based upon the timeframe, and determining if the per-day shift exceeds a maximum allowed per-day shift. Also, the method includes, upon a determination that the per-day shift exceeds the maximum allowed per-day shift, setting the preconditioning schedule responsive to the determination, establishing communication between the control circuitry and a light source, and operating the light source to emit light based upon the preconditioning schedule.
PHOTOBIOMODULATION (PBM) IN GENERAL LIGHTING
A lighting arrangement for providing visible light and radiation in another spectrum that is medically beneficial is provided. The lighting arrangement comprises a light source adapted to emit visible light; a radiation source adapted to emit radiation in a predetermined spectrum, and a driver circuit adapted to provide a first driving current that is pulsed and has a duty cycle of not greater than 20%. The predetermined spectrum is preferably in the range 760-1400 nm. The lighting arrangement is adapted to provide the first driving current to the radiation source but not the light source. Corresponding method and products employing such lighting arrangement are also provided.
System and method to selectively illuminate an infant during phototherapy
A system and method to selectively illuminate (part of) an infant during phototherapy uses an array of collimators and a set of light sources to control impingement of electromagnetic radiation on the infant.
