NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION ANTENNA

A near field communication (NFC) antenna includes a carrier having a disk including a first surface and a second surface. The disk surrounds a central bore. The central bore is open through the disk between a top of the carrier and a bottom of the carrier. The NFC antenna includes an antenna circuit on the disk. The antenna circuit includes a first pad and a second pad electrically connected to the first pad. The NFC antenna includes an electronic component at the first surface of the disk and coupled to the first pad. The NFC antenna includes an antenna element coupled to the second surface of the disk. The antenna element includes a conductor arranged as an RF coil. The RF coil extends along the disk and surrounds the central bore. An end of the RF coil is coupled to the second pad.

The bridge pattern bypasses the connection pattern, and is combined with the first loop coil pattern to form a loop coil antenna.

A vehicle entry device is designed to equip a vehicle and may include: a housing defining a cavity and adapted to be fixed to the vehicle; and an electronics module disposed in the cavity, including: a printed circuit board; an antenna connected to the printed circuit board and configured to capture a NFC signal, wherein the antenna includes windings directly arranged on the printed circuit board; an NFC receiver connected to the printed circuit board, in communication with the antenna and configured to receive the NFC signal from the antenna; and a processing element connected to the printed circuit board, in communication with the NFC receiver and configured to provide a control signal to a control system equipping the vehicle, based on the NFC signal transmitted by the NFC receiver, said control signal allowing access to the vehicle. A vehicle trim component may be equipped with such vehicle entry device.

The metal chassis forms an auxiliary antenna, where the auxiliary antenna is configured to be powered by the first NFC antenna by electromagnetic induction and is also configured to have a resonance frequency substantially equal to the first resonance frequency.

An electronic device such as a wristwatch may have a housing with metal portions such as metal sidewalls. The housing may form an antenna ground for an antenna. An antenna resonating element for the antenna may be formed from a stack of capacitively coupled component layers such as a display layer, touch sensor layer, and near-field communications antenna layer at a front face of the device. An additional antenna may be formed from a peripheral resonating element that runs along a peripheral edge of the device and the antenna ground. A rear face antenna may be formed using a wireless power receiving coil as a radio-frequency antenna resonating element or may be formed from metal antenna traces on a plastic support for light-based components.

Electronic device and transaction method using the same

According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, an electronic device may include a housing, a conductive pattern that is arranged within the housing and is formed to generate a magnetic field, a plate that forms at least a part of a first surface of the housing and includes a material that at least partially transmits the magnetic field generated by the conductive pattern, and a communication circuit that is configured to transmit at least one transaction information to an external device by using the conductive pattern. The conductive pattern may include a first end that is electrically connected to the communication circuit, a second end that is electrically connected to the communication circuit, and a coil that is connected between the first end and the second end and includes a plurality of turns that are substantially parallel to a surface of the plate.

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an antenna, various implementations and methods therefor. Various embodiments are amenable to implementation with a receiver circuit that harvests power using energy from a radio frequency (RF) signal received, and a near-field communication (NFC) circuit. A first antenna collects and presents the RF signal to the receiver circuit, and a second antenna communicates NFC signals for the NFC circuit using an antenna portion shared with the first antenna.

Moreover, the first and second loop antennas each having an opening that discontinue a part of a loop and are arranged such that a closed loop is defined by at least a part of the first loop antenna and at least a part of the second loop antenna in a transparent plane viewed from a normal direction of the insulator layer. Furthermore, in the plan view of the insulator layer, the opening of the first and second loop antennas and the opening of the coil antenna overlap each other.
