MOTION CAPTURE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR THE MULTI-POINT RECEIVING ARRAY BASED ON THE NON-PROPAGATING ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD
20200250409 · 2020-08-06 ·

The present invention discloses a method and system for obtaining and tracking motions and gestures of a body part (e.g. a hand) of a user, by using antennas worn on the body (e.g. on a wrist band). The antennas may be near-field antennas which transmit and receive short-range electromagnetic fields. The electromagnetic fields may be modified by interaction with the body part, depending on the exact position of the body part. The modified electromagnetic field may be received by the antennas. The received signal may be processed, to provide additional spatial information (e.g. beamforming). The processed signal may be interpreted by pattern recognition (e.g. neural network, database table). The pattern recognition may be trained using labeled pair data (e.g. known hand positions and corresponding processed signals).

Boosted near field communication device

A boosted near field communication device includes an electronic circuit, a transceiver circuit, an interface coupling the electronic circuit with a host controller, and a memory containing a first information about an activation characteristic of the electronic circuit. The transceiver circuit is configured to determine a timing requirement of a reading device based on one or more request signals, activate the electronic circuit with energy obtained at least one of from an electromagnetic field generated by the reading device or from a battery on receiving a request signal from the reading device, and ensure that after activating the electronic circuit, the electronic circuit can receive and process a request signal from the reading device corresponding to the determined timing requirement by using the determined timing requirement and the first information about an activation characteristic.

Communication systems for patient support apparatuses

A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, or the like, uses the ability to communicate with a device via near field communication to determine that the device is physically proximate the support apparatus. The support apparatus uses this determination to associate itself with the device. In some instances, the associated device is a mattress positioned on the support apparatus; a footboard on the support apparatus; a medical device used with a patient supported on the support device; a nearby piece of furniture; another patient support apparatus; or an ID tag worn by a caregiver or patient, or attached to a piece of equipment. After the support apparatus and device are associated, they communicate information between each other using far field communication, which supports higher data transfer rates. Flux concentrators are added in some embodiments to extend and/or shape the range of near the field communication.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING AND TRANSMITTING SENSOR DATA

Systems and methods for processing, transmitting and displaying data received from an analyte sensor, such as a glucose sensor, are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for transmitting data between a first communication device associated with an analyte sensor and a second communication device configured to provide user access to sensor-related information comprises: activating a transceiver of a first communication device associated with an analyte sensor at a first time; and establishing a two-way communication channel with the second communication device; wherein the activating comprises waking the transceiver from a low power sleep mode using a forced wakeup from the second communication device.
