Method and Apparatus for Radio Communications

In an example embodiment, a system comprises a chain of serially coupled nodes, including a central processing node (CPN) and one or more radio communications nodes (RCNs). The CPN couples to a first RCN in the chain via a dielectric waveguide (DWG) link and any further RCNs in the chain are successively connected in serial fashion from the first RCN via further (DWG) links. The CPN generates outbound radio carrier signals that are waveguide-propagated in a downstream direction of the chain, for over-the-air (OTA) by targeted ones of the RCNs, while radio carrier signals received via OTA reception by respective ones of the RCNs are waveguide propagated as inbound radio signals in an upstream direction of the chain, for processing by the CPN. Advantages from he contemplated system include greatly simplified implementation of the RCNs, with lower cost and power consumption. Further, strategic placement of failover CPNs and DWG links provide for continued operation in the face of CPN or DWG link failures.

SATELLITE COMMUNICATION EARTH STATION AND COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD

Determination information necessary to determine accuracy of detection of a longitude, a latitude, and an altitude of an antenna is acquired, whether the accuracy of detection of the longitude, the latitude, and the altitude is in a necessary and sufficient level is determined in accordance with the acquired determination information, the longitude, the latitude, the altitude, the azimuth, and the inclination of the antenna are detected also after elapse of a predetermined time after the transmission of the radio wave from the antenna is stopped, and the antenna is driven to adjust the azimuth angle, the elevation angle, and the polarization angle of the antenna to the communication satellite in accordance with the longitude, the latitude, the altitude, the azimuth, and the inclination of the antenna detected after elapse of the predetermined time after the transmission of the radio wave from the antenna is stopped.

Phase noise removal in a network of radio frequency (RF) repeaters

A wireless communication system includes a first communication device and a second communication device. The first communication device obtains a plurality of radio frequency (RF) signals corresponding to different communication protocols from a plurality of communication systems. A frequency of each of the plurality of RF signals is upconverted to a different frequency, and a phase noise is introduced in the plurality of RF signals. The plurality of RF signals corresponding to different communication protocols are multiplexed into a mmWave RF signal of a specified frequency and a defined pilot tone along with the mmWave RF signal is transmitted. The second communication device captures the mmWave RF signal having the defined pilot tone over-the-air. At least one RF signal is down converted to a source frequency and the phase noise is estimated in the one extracted RF signal based on the defined pilot tone which is reduced concurrently.

RADIO COMMUNICATION METHOD, RADIO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, RADIO BASE STATION, AND REPEATER

A radio base station and a radio terminal perform radio communication based on a TDD scheme. A slot configuration includes allocation of a downlink period and an uplink period to the radio terminal. The relay reflects a signal transmitted from the radio base station or the radio terminal or receives and reradiates the signal to form a transmission path between the radio base station and the radio terminal. A relay characteristic includes a parameter determining a coverage area in which the transmission path is formed. A downlink relay characteristic during the downlink period and an uplink relay characteristic during the uplink period are not common but determined separately. Then, the relay characteristic during the downlink period is set to the downlink relay characteristic, and the relay characteristic during the uplink period is set to the uplink relay characteristic. In other words, the relay characteristic is switched between downlink communication and uplink communication.
